Lovely surprise for an impromptu stop in Boston, place was nice and staff was super kind and friendly. Food was quite good! I do recommend the fried calamari that are AMAZING! The lobster roll was ok, plenty of food which was great! I do recommend this lovely spot, and sit outside since it’s a great people watching spot!
Came here for brunch. Awesome! Great mimosa, good potion of steak, competitive price, really nice service and cozy atmosphere. Definitely the place for my next brunch!
Pros: - Waffle fries were really good. - Nice atmosphere and mood lighting. - Not too loud. - I was there around 7pm so it could get louder later at the night. Not sure though. - Clean facilities. - Very close to a T aka train station. Cons: - Mozzarella sticks were meh. - Prices were a little steep for the appetizers. Note: I didn't try any of the entrees so the other food might be worth the price. Overall, this place is worth checking out.
The sesame tuna was awesome. The rest nothing special. Waitress had no idea what was going on, what was on the menu, kept making mistakes and going back to the kitchen to answer our questions. Nobody in our group ordered cocktails because they were nervous what they would get.
Friendly, laidback atmosphere. Servers were the sweetest we met in the city
Normally don't take the time to write reviews but I was treated so horribly by this business I felt it necessary. I wish I could give no stars. I needed to make a brunch reservation for 13 people for a birthday. In anticipation of it being a bit difficult to get a res for that big of a party I made it almost three weeks ahead of time thinking that would be plenty. Four days before my reservation I received a call from a manager reluctant to honor my reservation since they are expecting "300 people" due to a sports game that day, but ultimately after being incredibly rude and condescending to me about the difference between "a reservation and a party", he agreed that it would be fine for them to still carry out the reservation and specifically said there would not be a problem. The next morning I receive a call not from a manager but from a hostess cancelling it unapologetically, and leaving me with three days to find another reservation for a birthday party. When asked why it took them almost three weeks to realize the reservation wouldn't be possible the manager I spoke to told me "well I just found out about it so...", and followed up by telling me he would not be willing to make any changes to give us as a large party a more comfortable experience. Local businesses survive off of word of mouth and rely on local patrons l, and I'm infuriated that my choice to spend money there in the past was met not with gratitude but with complete disrespect. This is a place I patronized casually for years, brought about a dozen people to, and gave great word of mouth. To anyone thinking to go here for any reason, just for a drink or for a larger party like I was trying to plan, I urge you not to give these rude, inconsiderate, and ungrateful people your business.
Globe Bar & Cafe wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either- it just sort of was. The staff was friendly, but service again wasn't fast or slow. My girlfriend and I both ordered salads- I liked mine chicken, but my girlfriend disliked the dressing on hers the salad that includes shrimp. There is a decently long drink list, and the beers were appropriately priced for the area. We'll probably come back at some point, given it's convenient location and no-wait for tables.
A large group of coworkers and I visited the restaurant on what I can only guess was a moderately busy Wednesday night. I initially informed the waitress of my vegan preference and got great answers about several of the promising menu items none of which turned out to be vegan. No offer or attempt was made to approach the chef to see if an exception could be made to accomodate my preferences. After ordering a salad and specifying that I wouldn't like any animal products on it including dairy, honey and eggs, I was served a salad consisting of mostly greens, raw broccoli and croutons containing butter and a non-vegan Caesar dressing on the side. I informed the waitress that I didn't care to pay an entree price for a plate of greens and refused the meal. Throughout the entire interaction, the waitress was nothing but curt and impersonal with the exception of when when I refused the plate, asking if I could be brought anything else, which was clearly ruled out during the earlier conversation. I decided to substitute my meal with several beers, each of which I had to flag the waitress down and request. If you're looking for a friendly atmosphere and attention to your experience, I'd choose another restaurant. Plus side is there were plenty of vegan beers to choose from.
Everything is pretty basic. The main floor is too dark to see and poorly decorated, seemingly nothing to do with The Boston Globe like the website indicated. The drinks and food were good. The roof top bar was big enough, but not special. Bartenders were great, servers were a little impatient
Very cool place...even on a Winter's afternoon in a snow/rain/wind storm! It is where the old Rattlesnake bar was...the same basic layout with the rooftop option...which we obviously didn't make use of this trip! Friendly people, great cocktails...
