Glow Midwifery

I cannot say enough kind words about the care that I received from Angela, Beth and the team at Glow Midwifery. This was my first pregnancy, and as a first time mom I had heard that delivering naturally at home "wasn't a good idea" because it would be long, scary, my frame was too small I'm 5'2" etc. etc. I decided to try anyways, and am SO happy that we did. Our healthy, beautiful baby boy came in just a few short hours with less than 10 minutes of pushing. To all first time mom's out there - you CAN do it with the support of an amazing birth team! Do not let anyone scare you out of trying to birth your baby naturally. If there is ANY reason that you would need to go to the hospital, I assure you that the midwives at Glow would recommend as such. These amazing midwives truly let me believe in myself, and in the innate power of my own body. I'm still surprised at how CALM they made me feel on the big day, and how professional they were EVERY step along the way. Choosing who delivers your baby is a HUGE decision. You will not be disappointed with Glow!!

I came to Portland at 20 weeks searching for a midwife and found Angela and her team. Angela has such a calming and confident presence. Her office is beautiful and inviting. We delivered our daughter safely at home at 38 weeks and would recommend her to anyone seeking a home birth midwife. Everything is professionally done without missing the warmth and relationship. If you're seeking a home birth, you'll be so happy with Angela and her team at glow! This was my second baby and second home birth Also going through this process helped me to get know Portland midwives in general and the midwives here are all very closely connected and often work together to assist each other at births and home visits. These women are well trained, clinical, professional and they know their stuff when it comes to birth and home birth safety. My water broke first in this birth which was new to me and my midwife was so helpful through that experience. Glow midwifery does not work with OHP but we chose to go with Glow anyway and pay out of pocket because we felt Angela was the right midwife for us. Birthing at home is few thousand less than at one of the local birth centers because you're not paying to support the facilities and staff they have at the centers I did visit those and they are beautiful. If you're deciding between birth center or home, consider home... You never have to leave home !!!

I’ve always known that I wanted to have my babies at home. But I wanted to make sure I found the right Midwife to guide me through my journey. We are so happy that we found Angela and her Glow Midwifery team. She made me feel so much peace the first time we met. Our whole experience with her from start to finish was so positive. I felt so much love and support from Angela and I am so happy that our baby got to enter this world with her help. It was so hard to say our goodbyes at our last check up but we hope it isn’t our last time being in her care. I will definitely be going back to Angela for our future babies. Thank you for all the love and care you bring to all mothers and fathers. You are making a big difference in people’s lives.

My eyes well with tears of love and joy as I write these words, and words will forever fall short of explaining the magic that was my home birth experience with Glow Midwifery. Every step of our journey with Glow was extraordinary. Angela and her team provided genuine love and care in every moment they spent with me and my family. from the start to the end, I never questioned the quality of the care I received with Glow. After having two previous hospital births, going into my third pregnancy I knew I wanted a home birth. When I first met Angela I knew right away that I wanted to come into her care. My journey took a couple of detours due to financial constraints. I ended up going to two different birth centers, neither of them providing the quality of care I longed for. After a sudden change of insurance I was left with choosing to pay out of pocket costs for birthing at a hospital, a birth center, or going back to my original home birth plan. I am extremely glad that we chose to circle back to Glow. Angela welcomed us with open arms and took us into her loving care. During the last few weeks of my pregnancy, Angela became concerned about my baby's heart rate which was just below the normal range. I went in for testing to ensure all was ok for the home birth experience. At the time I was full of fear about having to have a hospital birth, but I knew that Angela had the best interest of me and my baby and I found comfort in knowing this. The doctors gave the green light to continue with the home birth and my son was born at home on 9/29/2021. Everything about my home birth experience with Glow Midwifery was perfect. From the bottom of my heart I thank Angela, Beth, and Jamie for providing a home birth experience full of love and care.

I had planned to interview several midwives after having a quick, sterile, uninviting appointment at a local hospital however once I sat down with Angela I knew she was the right midwife for me and my family. Glow offers a complimentary appointment to meet Angela and make sure that her and her team of student and licensed midwives are the right fit for you. I immediately appreciated Angela's calm reassuring presence, her patience as I asked a million questions, and the atmosphere which is far from the typical stirrups, bright fluorescent lighting, and smell of chemicals that I've experienced in the past. I loved that all pre and postnatal appointments are held in a sweet home like atmosphere that is so comfortable, relaxing, and clean. During our first meeting as Angela described the comprehensive care that I would be receiving 1 hour long appointments, nutrition, mental health, physical health, etc I was blown away that this type of health care exists AND it's much less expensive than most hospital births. I even told her she needs to charge more-- it's so true the value is amazing with Angela and her team. My pregnancy was fairly uneventful thankfully however after each visit with Angela, Charlotte, and Jannae I felt so thankful that they were the birth team that we got to have by our side. They validated my feelings and talked me through some fears that I had about delivery. They made sure that our baby was healthy and that I was doing everything that I could to help facilitate that nutrition, sleep, exercise, stress reduction etc. I have never experienced such comprehensive care in my life! When the big day finally came both my husband and I were once again validated in our decision to have a home birth and have Glow beside us. My birth wishes were respected, my body was respected and allowed to do what it was meant to do without interventions-- I had the exact birth that I wanted. I'm forever grateful for the amazing experience of working with Glow during the most amazing time of my life.

I birthed both of my children with Glow. Angela is wonderful, incredibly knowledgeable, compassionate, and dedicated, she loves and cares deeply for what she does and it shows through, and she carefully chooses equally dedicated women to work with. The environment is so warm and welcoming there. I gave birth to my first child at home and had a rich, amazing experience. Angela and Maggie were wonderful through the entire process, guiding me, supporting me physically and emotionally. I am honestly forever grateful for finding Glow and having such wonderful birth teams each time. I felt SO supported. When I had my second child, I ended up having to change my plans and go to the hospital due to complications, Angela and Kristina were there for me every step of the way, helping support me and making sure my birth plan was respected as much as possible at the hospital. I can’t say enough how great my experience was. I would definitely recommend Glow Midwifery, and I tell everyone who might be interested!

It’s hard to put into words how eternally grateful I am for my Midwife, Angela, and her Glow Midwifery team. My pregnancy journey and birth story will forever be a flourishing garden of memories because of these lovely ladies. GLOW stands for “Great love opens the way,” and all I can say is “YES!!!” Angela and her assistants radiate such a true and genuine love for the women and babies that they care for. I have been a labor and delivery nurse for the last 7 years and have witnessed countless hospital births, and my first baby was born in the hospital with an epidural. But with my second baby, I really desired to have an unmedicated birth in the intimate setting of my home. So I did some research and was so fortunate to find such a wonderful, knowledgeable, and experienced home birth midwife. After meeting Angela for the first time and talking for a while, I felt such an assurance and confidence that I would be in great hands under her care. I looked forward to my prenatal appointments with great eagerness. Each and every visit began with warm hugs from Angela and her midwife student, Charlotte. The model of care was holistic in every sense of the word...I was taught to trust the pregnancy and labor process like never before. I was thoroughly educated on health, fitness, and nutrition to support myself and my baby. Angela is very conservative in her care and showed a tremendous amount of attentiveness and caution...knowing when to step in if things were deviating from the norm, but also knowing when to watch and trust the natural process. By the end of my pregnancy, I felt like Angela and Charlotte were like family to me. They had instilled so much trust and confidence in the months leading up to the birth. Angela and her team could not have prepared me more for labor. When the day finally arrived almost a week and a half past my due date, it was FAST AND FURIOUS! I had about a two hour labor and I have never experienced anything so intense. I have never felt more primal, more empowered, or more supported than during this birth! I pulled from every resource within myself and leaned hard into my support team. Angela’s words of guidance, reassurance, and encouragement were LIFE to me and got me through to the end. She said I was “fierce” and I BELIEVED her! Even in the midst of every raw expression of pain, I was supported with patience, kept safe, and my labor process was honored every step of the way. I just can’t say enough how much I love and treasure my birth story, and I have the Glow midwifery team to thank for that! If I have any more babies, I will most definitely be delivering with them again. And I would absolutely recommend these angels if you are considering home birth!

It is hard for me to articulate my gratitude for Angela and her assistants. Throughout my whole pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, I felt so much warmth, compassion, and endless love. I have never experienced that type of unconditional care from anyone else in my life. I felt so encouraged and empowered as a woman, to birth freely and without fear. My thoughts and values were never judged & always supported. I looked forward to my appointments every month, her care facility is very cozy and comforting. Because it was my first pregnancy, I had many questions about delivery but Angela reassured me and affirmed my strength as a woman. Her student Lucy also deserves mention. She was incredibly gracious and kind, and wise beyond her years. I feel so lucky to have met her. After birth I required extra medical attention and I would not have trusted anyone but her and Lucy, and her assistant at the time, Megan also a beautiful soul. I plan to include Angela in the births of all my future children.

If you can imagine the midwife that runs a practice called ‘Glow’, that’s Angela. Angela and her team are the warmest women, so knowledgeable and exactly the type of people you want to be surrounded with when you are in the throws of labor. The care that I received leading up to birth was top notch. Every prenatal meeting was an hour and I got their undivided attention. I struggled with a couple of health issues during my pregnancy and it was so nice to walk into our meetings with the same provider every time and know that they knew my health history so intimately. My birth experience could not have been more perfect. Angela and her team are as hands on or off as you want them to be. My husband isn’t always great with verbal encouragement; I told them that, and they gave me so much, it was wonderful! I had a quick, uncomplicated labor, and I attribute a large part of that to my confidence in my birth team. I’d consider having another baby just to work with Glow again!

It has taken me 6 months to write a review, not because I didn’t want to but even after 6 months has passed I still think of Glow midwives often and still so grateful for all of their love in helping me grow and bring my son into this world! This was my third son and after 9yrs of having children and my first all natural home birth, I was definitely nervous but Angela had a very soft and encouraging spirit and she made child birth feel so natural and normal and nothing like a huge scary medical procedure! Even thinking of them now I miss charolette’s tight warm hugs and Angela’s care and encouraging voice! To be honest the birth was my absolute favorite part of being pregnant! Just thinking about that evening of birthing my son and how calm and peaceful everything was and how empowered I felt as a women and as a mother is so nostalgic and I will forever cherish every moment of it!
