Stephanie Mechado was our loan officer or contact person. She was inconsistent and slow with communication. She drug us through a 7-8 month process trying to get our home refinanced. In the middle of all this she left on maternity leave. Normally not a big deal. However, Stephanie never told us she was leaving for an extended time. After hearing nothing for weeks, no answered emails, etc. Someone finally contacted us. I don't recall this young lady's name, but she was very rude and acted like it was our fault we were missing paperwork in our file. Paperwork that we were never asked to complete or submit. In the end we were denied the refinance. What angers me the most is the wasted time. Months of wasted time. We are now in the process of refinancing with another company. And found out today that GMFS still has our refinance with them open. So again, GMFS is delaying us and wasting our time. Don't believe all the commercials you hear on the radio about great customer service. This was a terrible experience!

After approximately 2 1/2 years of great service through GMFS, my mortgage was transferred to a separate servicing company--Specialized Loan Servicing. There has been one issue after another with the new company... from incorrect statements down to past due letters that were generated in error. The new servicing company is HORRIBLE!! Do not finance your home through GMFS--go with one of the larger banks who have their stuff together.

GMFS recently changed their loan servicing vender, i.e. the group who processes your monthly payment. The payment options allow no flexibility to make early electronic payments. You get locked into a monthly auto payment. It also can't be adjusted for bi-weekly payments (again paying early). Paying by Western Union, U.S. Postal Service or another other 3rd party vender (that charges a fee) offered is very inconvenient and unsatisfactory. This new company needs to get in the 21st century. This is so irritating, I'm gonna look for a new mortgage company.
