Spent more than 20 minutes via phone trying to get a few basic questions answered, like how much does membership cost in total. The employee still couldn’t figure it out, and I finally got an answer later via email from a manager. If parking is $5 per day, that adds $150 per month to my gym costs assuming a daily trip this is after their parking discount. Please train your staff so they can answer basic questions like the price of parking at your own building.
I filled out a survey and gave feedback about what could improve. They wanted to talk to me in person and, being busy, I emailed a list of what they could improve on listing virtual classes, actually having a working app, which locations are in network, etc. Unfortuneately, it took over a month to respond after repeated attempts to contact the "district manager." The answers were generic, unsympathetic, and uncaring. It's pretty obvious nothing is going to change and it's pretty obvious they don't listen to their clientele after you sign up. They just want to take your money. It's a shame too because they have great instructors and classes, which is why I go since most of the machines are duplicates of what is in my apartment building and usually taken.
I was a member of this gym for a little over a year and unfortunately, the way they treat customers when they try to cancel their membership is criminal. When I gave my 30-day notice to end my membership, they cancelled it immediately upon which I had to ask them to reinstate me until my original termination request date. Once they reactivated my membership they never cancelled it and I'm still being billed until this day. Since I moved overseas, this is now a hassle that is interfering with the real issues that I need to deal with. This is a good gym if you never EVER plan on terminating your membership.
This gym is very nice, the equipment is good. I like that there's resteraunts a floor below the gym so you could whenever u want just eat right after an intense workout. And there's several methods via train and metro bus to get to this location
Best gym in the area. Staff are friendly and the gym is very clean. Only issue is lack of machine equipment choices, and all of the equipment is very crowded together. The dumbbell area is so small and no one puts their weights back correctly which is frustrating.
edit january 2023: there are frequently no wipes for machines. this is either due to people taking them improperly causing the rest to be unreachable or then not being restocked often enough. either way this should be an easy fix and it’s gross not being able to wipe down equipment. it’s understandable when one or two are out, but lately there have been times where all 4 that i know of are empty. please refill these more often or get new wipe holders that are idiot-proof. edit august 2022: lowered my review to 4 stars from 5 because the air vents are constantly dripping from condensation leaving puddles on the floor. the water is rusting the weights as well. it’s gross. it’s been happening for months. some dehumidifiers were put in but they are hardly making a difference. original review: staff is friendly and helpful, location is excellent, hours are great, has all the equipment i could wantcould use a standing calf raise machine but otherwise they have everything, and the facility is clean and well taken care of. only things i wish were different is if they had a longer rope attachment for the cable machines, if there was a sauna, and if the ceilings were a little higher… but it’s my understanding the last 2 issues were caused by the layout and they did the best with the space they got. however i can use my membership to get into other golds gyms in the area if i’m really looking to use a sauna.
The S Glebe location closed without notice and members were charged. I tried contacting the DC Metro management team to cancel and rectify the issue and have gotten no responses. Do you want to deal with a management team like this for something you're going to use regularly? Probably not.
lacking enough power racks - has 2. there are also 2 dedicated squat racks but the safety bars do not move and are quite high. all are usually taken so usually have at least a few minutes wait if not more. aside from that pretty clean and modern equipment
It's a great gym with most equipment you need. The only thing is they have only one cable machine for cable presses, which is always taken up. My biggest complaint is that parking is "free" but only if you work out for one hour, which is not enough time for most. It is conveniently right at the Roslyn metro stop though.
it's literally a *gold's gym*. why is there an enormous, barely used cardio section and a tightly packed weight room? At the very least it could use another cable machine.
