Best independent bike shop in the southwest Denver area. Great service, knowledgeable staff and bike selection. This shop actually has staff that know how to fit bikes properly and will take the time to set up each bike for the rider. Not the "By guess and by golly" fit approach that so many sub par shops do now a days! Go there for a 20.00 accessory or a 5,000 bike and they will hook you up! Highly recommend!
Great selection and very knowledgeable. Went to this shop to purchase a new bike for my son for his birthday and the owner helped us. He pulled a bike off the rack, sized it and brought him into the parking lot to try it out. Showed him how to use the shifter and made sure it was a good fit for him and his interests. Very helpful, friendly and attentive. This will be our go-to for our bike needs.
Where do I start? I began my experience with Golden Bear about half a year ago in November. I really wanted a lower range full suspension bike so I ended up purchasing a Giant Stance 2 $2100. About 6 months later the bike began giving me issues so I took it to the shop. I began working with Erik on my Giant. He notified me the rear hub free body needed to be replaced and it will be covered by warranty. Annoying for a bike that’s 5 months old in my opinion. This is when I stated that I may be interested in upgrading to something a bit better. He immediately went to work to see if he could get me into an upgrade without destroying my bank account. I left the show with no bike, annoyed that I wouldn’t be able to ride, but then no more than an hour later I got a call from Erik, he had found me the bike I wanted and got me a discount. Long story short he gave me a terrific trade in for my current bike and got me a discount off my new bike, effectively washing the whole situation for me. I have and will continue to recommend the guys at Golden Bear Bikes to friends and family. They took fantastic care of me and got me into my dream bike. Five stars for Golden Bear and specifically Erik for his terrific customer service.
I highly, highly recommend Jake Duvall for doing any maintenance work on your bike no matter how complex it is! He did an amazing job fixing my bike and his customer service was just as incredible! Hugo was also very helpful and made sure I walked out the door happy. Specifics below if interested I purchased a new 2017 Trek 9.8 carbon fuel from Golden Bear December 2016. I have loved the bike and I am meticulous about maintaining it. However, I recently started having some creaking and discovered that it was coming from my pivots. The manager had ordered new bearings from Trek, which did not arrive when he thought they would. He felt bad but that was out of his control and said he would start with taking the suspension apart and cleaning the bearings so I could at least have my bike for an out of town trip we had planned this weekend. I don’t know if there was a miscommunication but it’s Friday at 3:30 and my bike was never worked on. Hugo was great in helping me get a couple other things done that were also suppose to be completed but admitted to not being comfortable working on the suspension. Jake overheard me voicing my frustration, jumped in the conversation and told me to go get some dinner and be back in an hour. He reassured me that he could fix the problem and wanted to make sure that I had a good weekend on my bike. I got back to the store a bit early to see my bike suspension completely taken apart. He said, “not to worry but give me another half hour”. When I came back he was testing it in the parking lot and it sounded like it did when it was new. I was so pleased with him jumping in like that and fixing my bike! He did an amazing job! I highly recommend taking your bike to him for service! Hugo was incredible as well! I have been very pleased with Golden Bear Bikes the last couple years!
I was looking forward to supporting the small shop next to my home. Unfortunately, after paying $75 for basic tune up and brake bleed not only were my brakes not working right my gears were super clunky. When I went back in to have them adjust they informed me my brake was broke and it would be $169 and $40 for labor to replace it. Not sure how it was fine when they did the tune up and now it was "broke". The main maintenance guy wouldn't even look at me while discussing the problem and made no effort to provide any customer service. I decided to take my bike elsewhere. Neither employee cared at all... made no effort to keep my business at all. Mumbled something about how they are dealing with not having good help once they separated from Treads. Wouldn't this be a great time to make up for it and build your clientel through customer service. I took my bike elsewhere where and they fixed my "broken" brake for $40. Too bad I would have loved to have supported this small shop.
I was shopping for new bikes for my children. I shopped all of the stores from Walmart to boutique specialty stores along the front range. Treads prices were the same as everyplace I visited. The service was far better. It was as though I went to a friend who helped me make a purchase. Very helpful but laid back and genuine. Laura and the entire staff seemed to bend over backwards to help us. I realized later the service I experienced was just how they do things. I bought 2 bikes from them and suggest them to anyone looking for a bike. Great people great service! A bike is a bike from $200-$5000 it is still just a bike. The people and service during and after the sale is what I appreciate and find value in. Thank you again for making my kids and my biking experience so much better.
Best bike shop I have ever been too. Both locations are awesome! I bought a Trek mountain bike from the Aurora location that broke the following day riding on the street and the front fork came apart the manager upgraded me into a better model for almost no cost to me. I had my road bike serviced at the Lakewood location and I needed a new derailer and they could not get one for a week older bike and the mechanic brought one from his house that I could use for my planned ride that weekend. Awesome place, I will never go anywhere else.
Went in to look at bikes and they had a nice used bike out side price was great so I bought it. It got stolen two weeks later so I had to fix up an older bike while I saved money for a new one. Took it to bicycle village first cause they have the whole life time tune up adjustments for free. We'll they said there was nothing they can do with it. So I took it here he threw it up on the rack and in ten mins told me what it would need to get everything shifting right again less then 24 hours later I had it back and it was shifting like new great shop great service recommend them to anyone
I've purchased 6 bikes now from Treads and have had nothing but good experiences. They were just as friendly and helpful when I was spending $2.5K on my road bike as they were on the $150 mini bike for my daughter. As for the bike servicing: For the first month I had my road bike, they helped me dial everything in, got the fit correct, swapped out a stem and cassette for me. When my rear hub when bad, they pulled the rim, sent it back to Mavic to get it fixed and gave me a loner while I waited. As long as I live here in Denver, this is the only place I'll buy my bikes.
Came in to buy a new tube - without a prompt, Eric began to swap out my old one which I had brought in and saved me a lot of time and trouble! I was so pleased with the service I bought a second spare tube and a CO2 refill kit. Will be back as well-run local bike shops are getting hard to find and the good ones deserve our business.
