My childhood carry out hasn't changed, the food is still reasonably priced, fast and so good. The perfect comfort food. Don't forget to order a side of D.C.'s specialty, mumbo sauce and a half&half!lemonade ice tea mix excuse the first pic, I ate most of the fries before even thinking of taking a picture
It was good service and everything but the fried chicken was a little suspicious. I’m not saying it wasn’t a bird but it definitely did not taste or look like one. The chicken was in of more of a clumped curvy shape, also the bones inside of the chicken was broken which was weird aswell.
I've been eating here for years 5-8 and I've had one bad order. But they fixed it and gave me extra. They are great with customers and their food is always fresh and is made in a timely manner. If your ever uptown. Take that 5-10 minute ride and get yourself a sub or some wings. The mambo sauce is good compared to other carry outs. The young lady at the counter speaks English well and she is a delight to speak to. Prices are normal for a carry out in the city but the food is made well and is worth the money. Whenever I'm uptown this is the only carry out I eat from since Eddies turned into a bar.
I ordered sweet and sour chicken and orange chicken here and there was NO MEAT. Just a bunch of fried batter in sauce. Really disgusting. I guess they don't want to spend the money to serve chicken to their customers so they just fry up batter with no meat inside. I paid for chicken, give me my damn chicken.
Been going here since before I could remember!! I came to DC when I was 2 and am now 16 and this is still one of my places ever! The owners are so kind and the food is great! I love it here and would always recommend their food!!
Food is great but they do close at 10:30pm not 11pm. You also must try the vegetable dumplings. I first tried the dumplings in NY at a catered NBA game. Took me 8 months to finally find them again. All smiles.
I've been a customer for the past 10 years, throughout the years food was always very delicious no problems at all, I've always gave a generous tip aswell. But this is the last time I order from there it took 1 hour and 15 minutes for delivery no problem because food was hot BUT nothing taste or looked fresh and was wrong. General tos's chicken was minty bitter looked very dark just way off, i asked for plain fried rice I got extra onions. Wings where very dark in the middle and mumbo sauce was like vinegar with red coloring and gelatin that's probably what it really is but they forgot the spices. I called to tell her about the food she just said oh the food is good everything is the same nothing changed and that was it. no I'm sorry nothing... food went in the trash and I still end up cooking which is what I should have done in the first place but oh well, they don't seem to appreciate the customer seeing that from the business that customers give them they pay their nice houses and new cars never ordering from GOLDEN CHINA again and I will make sure to tell everyone my experience.
Shrimp fried rice was sub par, no flavor and shrimp tasted like it was put in hot water to cook and added to the rice afterwards. Chicken wings were well fried. Mambo sauce was really plain old sweet and sour sauce. Disappointing meal. I ate the chicken but left the rest. Would not eat there again. Atmosphere geared towards takeout.
Good for your night when cooking is not an option or you just want basic no thrills Chinese food. This place also has soups on par with pho. If you are ordering one this work for two - if you're in leave a tip.. And they have a golden fish - love jt.
This is a mediocre Chinese restaurant. It is strictly take out, not even a small table to have brief meal. The menu is fairly limited compared to many other takeout Chinese restaurants. it is located in a small shopping center, but there is generally plenty of parking, which is convenient considering the busy location on Georgia Ave.
