I've been trying to cancel my insurance through my employer for months. They've been giving both my HR and I the run around. Half of the time I call I get the terrible united healthcare music, the other half it's just 20-30 seconds of silence and breathing or the sounds of someone hanging up. They're rude and disrespectful and contradictory.
For anyone looking for individual short term health insurance I beg you, PLEASE DO NOT USE UNITED HEALTHCARE. If I could rate this company no stars I would. Please do not waste your time. I had a good experience with the company when covered under a group company plan however my entire individual plan experience with them was absolutely horrible. Words cannot describe how much of a disappointment this was. I understand that each persons experience is different, but please read and believe what you see online. I ignored all the negative reviews because I felt that people were just looking to complain, however all of it is true. This company is truly here to take your money. No one over the phone knows what they're talking about and cannot give you the appropriate info about your plan. My sales guy Brian not only spoke to me, but another family member and lied to the both of us on what my plan actually was. They told me my prescription was covered under the plan THEY recommended and it turned out to be $500 when I went to the pharmacy. I was told that I had a pharmacy card and was provided numbers for it, however it did not actually work when I got to the pharmacy. When I finally got a hold of someone at United they said I didn't have a pharmacy card and that it was actually a pharmacy discount card I had to go sign up for. When I went back to my sales guy Brian, he finally admitted that I only had a discount card and denied ever telling me my prescription was covered. Getting a hold of an actual person to talk to is nearly impossible. They have an automated system that has been the worst system I have ever dealt with. When I cancelled my plan I was promised by 3 separate people that I owed nothing, only to receive a letter in the mail saying I owed $104. When I called to ask about this I was informed for the first time after 2 months of insurance that this plan could not be cancelled at any time without paying out the full year. How a company can not share this info with you and expect you to pay IS WRONG. I talked to a manger there named Amy, who admitted that none of her employees actually told me this information and that I would still have to pay this amount because it's in my contract, otherwise I would be sent to collections. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE select any other plan that United Healthcare. They may have "the most coverage" than other health plans, but I would take a plan that's not robbing me and lying to me that has limited coverage. Their company is supposed to be about "Integrity Compassion Relationships Innovation Performance" but none of that is true.
Where to begin... If I could rate this company with no stars, I would. They don’t cover ANYTHING, especially when it comes to mental health services. Medications? Not covered. They only offer what THEY think is suitable and even if the drug in its plain form is listed, they will deny it. Appeals? Forget it. They don’t care about you, they only care about collecting their premiums. If you have kids, I strongly recommend a different company to go with. If you’re an employer looking to change, stick with Anthem. There are a million and one exclusions in their policies and are constantly finding a reason to deny your benefits. This company is ridiculous and I’m incredibly disappointed in the service they “provide.”
Worst insurance company I've ever been forced to deal with. High deductibles, high premiums, foreign reps who are outright rude, unknowledgable, and transfer you endlessly many times to wrong departments, so you waste entire days trying to straighten anything out. They will deny all your claims consistently medical and prescriptions, making you and your doctors jump through ridiculous hoops excessive paperwork, posting incorrect expired fax numbers for said excessive paperwork, losing the paperwork or blaming it on rep who did process wrong, retrying your paperwork more than a few times and denying because it was retried too much. If an employer uses this company for their employees plan, know that they want to cut costs with worst insurance company in the history of worst insurance companies. I wish someone would've told me how horrendous they are, but I can at least warn others to steer clear!
Bait & Switch! Do not use Tracey Brame as your salesperson. She is rude and unprofessional. Tracey will transfer or disconnect the call rather than help. I was quoted a plan and then with no notification the premium was immediately increased 31% in the first few days. You must add 30% to any quotes the salespeople give you. Then don't expect them to help in any fashion when United pulls the bait and switch. I am currently shopping for new plans with other companies. Save yourself time and lots of frustration and shop for health plans elsewhere.
Just found out I was sold a supplement insurance plan and not a real insurance plan. Don't trust this company or their brokers who represent them.
Good luck getting assistance over the phone very speedy when colllecting money but for claims or coverage info hold times vary from 25 mins to over an hour, i have only tried 3 times since enrolling and each time experience is the same.
