Its so nice to see there are real craftsmen still in the world! When I went there, the man was cutting a new leather sole for a shoe. Never seen that before... I brought a pair of expensive boots at 3:15 and asked how much. It was a bit expensive--23 dollars--for a heel cap repair, and they DO NOT have a credit card machine. But the man was very nice and when saw I only had 22 dollars, he knocked off the last dollar from the price and took my boots. He originally said they would be done Thursday. I told them I needed the boots for that night and he said he would try. Turns out they were done! Even though they close at 6 and only had a couple of hours to do them. Overall, really good service and really nice people. If you have expensive my boots were expensive bags and shoes, I definitely recommend them. I mean, for 20 bucks you can buy a new pair of shoes...from Payless. But for fine things you want to cherish, definitely come here.
I've brought shoes to be repaired here for a few years now but I won't be coming back after today's incident. I brought two pairs of boots in and requested new soles on the ones which obviously had holes forming in the bottoms and asked for the second pair to be polished. He told me I should get soles on both but I assured him I only needed new soles on the first pair. I came to pick up my shoes today and he put soles on the wrong pair of boots. When I pointed this out to him he demanded another full payment for soles on the correct pair. When I refused to pay him again he got angry and began yelling at me, brutally folded his chair and threw it down on the floor. I'm sure that he put the soles on the wrong pair on purpose since he wanted the extra business, the pair he put "soles" on were in perfect condition. Instead of new soles all he did was paste on a layer of rubber over the affected area on the existing soles.
Upon my wife suggestion I took my old worn out BASS BRADFORD shoes there. 4 days later they were better than the pair I bought earlier not knowing that that the old one could be fixed for less than half price of the new ones. GOOD PLACE IF YOU WANT TO SAVE MONEY.
If there were 0 starts, I'd chose that. There are no words to describe how horrible this business owner is. No bell on the door, he never turns around when a customer walks in. You can stand there for minutes before being acknowledged - then he just goes right back to what he was doing & turns his back on you again! The icing on the cake for me was this week when I went to pick up my boots & at 10:30AM the lights were out, the place was shut tight - he was supposed to be open at 9:30AM. I had to go back the next day in a panic with my cat in her carrier on the way to the vet with her panicked in the car alone. He should be ashamed of himself & he should be shut down so that someone who really wants to run a small business can take it over & do the right thing for the community.
I've used GQ shoe repair for years, on many occasions. Yes, the owner is short on good interpersonal skills but his work is flawless--but not cheap. I highly recommend him; just don't expect too much in the way of cheery customer service.
We recently moved to Fairfield. Used this store for shoe repair. The owner has the worst customer skills and a horrible attitude. He “repaired” a shoe cap on my heel and after 1 hr of light wear the shoe cap broke off. Horrible quality repair. I went back within days to hv him re-repair it, and we wanted to charge me for the work AGAIN. GO to Westport and it will be better quality and less expensive. Do not chance using his shoemaker.
Horrible experience ! I never write reviews but this guy has got to be the most rudest person I've come across when getting a service done ! I dropped off my purse to get the handle repaired Thursday morning he told me it will be ready by Saturday , I'm calling all day Saturday and no answer he finally answers and when I asked about my purse he yelled "it's not ready " and hung up ! I finally had enough I went down to the store to only find out my purse was not ready he hasn't even touched it ! My purse was laying there with shoes and other things over it I spent a lot of money on my purse for it to be thrown around so he tells me to give him 20 mins and he will "try" to fix it ! Long story short he "fixed" it and gave me my purse with a horrible attitude! I won't ever return back to this place nor will I recommend this to anyone I know !
This is the rudest person I have ever met in the service sector. I asked him to replace a broken shoestring and all he did was move it around so I have one shoe with an appropriate shoestring length and one that is too short. He then charged me 16 dollars. If there was a rating for zero I would have selected that star.
Walked in with my admittedly overweight father-in-law because he wanted shoestrings for his hunting boots. The guy looked up from behind the counter and asked when the baby was due. We could *not* believe our ears. I wish to god there was another shoe repair place in fairfield so I didn't have to drive out to the Milford mall to get new soles.
I took two pairs of boots into this gentleman he had them both prepared excellent by next day plus for those of you who have had issues with him he was very nice and pleasant with me maybe it's how you approached him it's all in how you treat people
