I came here around 8:30am on Friday, and I didn’t need to wait in line. Although their specialty seemed to be bread, I only bought a mocha and a bag of chocolate biscotti - both were pretty nice. They offered 3 outdoor tables, but there wasn’t place to sit indoor, which was a bit pity. Would love to try their bread next time.
Hmm.. I am confused by the reviews. Yes location is great. Love the quiet spot in the hubbub city noise. But there was fruit flies early morning at 7 AM and didn't see fruits inside. Anyways we ordered: Double shot espresso- not too creamy, not good Caramel latte- even with non fat milk too sweet Chocolate croissant- it was so cold, so definitely not fresh. How can it be cold and hard 7AM in the morning. So not worth it. Can't be warmed also!!!! The staff was so rude early morning. He didn't even look at us all through the time
Great coffee and the best staff, but it’s unbearably hot in the summer since it seems the owners don’t provide proper AC, or fans! Feel badly for the folks who work there who are forced to spend their days in 100 degree temperatures. No one deserves these working conditions. It’s cruel and completely unsafe. To the owners, I would recommend treating your staff with the same attention and gratitude they treat their customers with. It’s because of them that this place is the gem that it is.
Come for the large-format breads, like the legendary Filone, which serves a large, hungry party. Stay for the thin, crispy vegetable pizza slices: Potato, cauliflower, and pomodoro tomato are my favorites.
Very fresh breads but the ratio of ingredients could be adjusted to improve the texture of the dishes. Soggy mushroom pizza, too much greens in the sandwich.
By far my favorite bakery in Manhattan. If you have ever had bread at Aria/Terra/Cotenna and thought that it was amazing, it was the “filone” from Grandaisy. They are truly masters at their craft. While the majority of their business is clearly fueled by wholesale they supply bread all over the city and have an absolutely massive kitchen, their retail location is charming with phenomenal coffee by Illy and other baked goodies. Make sure to try the flatbread, as all of the locals will fight you for the last piece of potato rosemary pizza. On top of the delicious food, the staff is always friendly and efficient. I cannot say enough positive things about Grandaisy.
Love coming here in the morning they make some tasty bakery items. Croissants and flatbreads, somewhat hidden in the back are my favorite items in the shop.
Rockstar place! No kidding. I was about to go into the burnt-bean paradise cuz I didn't know of anything else in the neighborhood. I caught this little corner place out of the corner of my eye. The coffee is superb. Real coffee. Baked goods apple turnover this-morning fresh, tasty, and priced right. Gonna take home some bread. Besides baked goods, they have a great selection of inventive, good sandwiches. Generous portion for the $. The staff is first-rate - super friendly and efficient. I love the location, too. Tucked slightly off 6th ave in Tribeca with a view of Tribeca Park, nice green and low congestion area. If you're in this neighborhood looking for a place to duck in that's not mobbed with biz and tourist types . . . this is the place!
I worked for 2 years in 2 different restaurants buying bread here. I've always thought this is the best bread in NYC. Then I went on to buy this bread for my own use. Now, after the covid I don't know what's going on here. It is the third time they have given me the loaf, not crunchy and full of moisture, as if it were yesterday's bread. I am truly disappointed. Unfortunately I don't live around the corner and I can't go back just to complain. But I'll do it as soon as possible. Please also give normal, unprofessional customers your best bread.
Their multigrain is so awesome. So substantial and yet so tasty. On the other hand, their sourdough Puglese has flavor you won’t forget —with or without seeds.
