Great Notion Brewing and Barrel House

We’ve been here during the Christmas. We really loved the fries here! It was also very interesting to taste these many flavors of beers at one time and make comparisons of each one. If I had chance, I’d come back again and try all flavors.

Excellent! I had heard of their sours and was impressed. I had not had their IPAs and was very satisfied. If you are a fan of Stouts, Sours, Pilsners or IPAs - give these folks a try. I had two flights and was pleased by the range of flavors. On the food side I enjoyed the meatball sandwich. The meatballs were excellent and a bit spicy with an appropriate amount of sauce and plenty of good quality cheese. Very pleasant atmosphere. Very friendly and helpful staff and an nicely large patio.

If you're in the market for unique and exotic beer then look no further. We ordered a flight after watching all these beautiful brightly colored beers going around. Our server helped us to select a couple and we got a gorgeous rainbow. We also got the chili nachos, one vegan and one not and they were pretty good. There was a burger and crunch wrap that could be made vegan as well. This place uses the new order and pay all on your phone method that's going around portland so just a heads up to people who hate that. Also charging 50 cents for a couple squirts of Aardvark sauce is ridiculous. They had really great large and private bathrooms and a huge outdoor seating area where you could bring your dog.

Street parking. Came here for the highly rated beers and was not disappointed. I sampled the three double IPA's and enjoyed the Ghost Saloon the most. We also ordered the loaded fries and they were very hot spicy and tasty. Not sure what spice was used but it had both of us sweating There was no Double Stack on tap so we ordered a 4 pack to go and took them elsewhere to drink. It was overflowing with maple flavor but in a good way. I can still taste the maple hours afterwards

I've been trying to drink Great Notion on tap and not out of cans for too many years, but I finally made it and it was worth the wait! Everything we sampled was so tasty and the service and ambiance were up to par as well. If you are a fan of fun beer don't sleep on this brewery!

The attraction is the beer which is very impressive. You order from your table and they respond quick with your order. It can be a little bothersome to get up and find someone for extra napkins or boxes etc. first world problems. Only two bathrooms is slightly inconvenient & not much options on the menu. It is a very kid friendly place though! It’s loud And has outdoor seating. Very beautiful healthy plants in there I’m so jealous of!

Insanely fast service and great beer! They utilize an order and pay online with a QR code system that made for extremely fast service. We got the Magnetic West IPA, Strawberry fluff, and Elsewhere and I would highly reccomend all of them!

Been coming to Great Notion for a few years now, and it’s always a good time. Service is solid, but the star of the show is, of course, the beers. If you dig your sours or your IPAs, in either case you’ll have a good time. Always imaginative stuff happening. For other types of beer you might be in short supply, but there are usually a couple options around. The Alberta location has a rad outdoor seating section and is all around very nice to hang out in. Highly recommend swinging by for a flight!

Big pet peeve: the canned beers are available only by the 4-pack, and it must be all the same 4 type. Other breweries usually let me buy a single can or mix-and-match 4 packs. But this 5 star review is not a mistake, because I do love many of their beers especially the pastry sours and appreciate they list the menu on Untappd.

Great place. Beers are super unique and different. If you like sours this is the place to get them. Even their craft beer is very good. You can tell a lot of thought goes into each recipe. Food is fantastic, love it every time we go. Philly cheesesteak, and the smash burger I think are my favorite. Digital ordering menu makes things easy. Service is very prompt. The berry hazelnut sour is one of my favorites. Strong hazelnut flavor which I loved. 5 stars every time I come here.
