Wonderful high-quality grocers for everything you can't get at Safeway/ Fred Meyer or when you simply feel like spoiling yourself - and less expensive on the whole than Wholefoods for many items I normally buy. Superb selection of locally roasted coffees and the chance to grind them to your liking. Really fabulous staff.
Yes, some of the prices are high, but you definitely get the convenience of where it's located. I like the bulk coffee that they have at a very reasonable price and the craft beer and wine selection is quite good as well. I love being able to pop in and out when I'm in the area. Kudos to the friendly employees for handling the sometimes chaotic crowd.
i love shopping here bc of the vibes and options but I never have a good experience because the other customers are always SO RUDE! i always leave the store feeling agitated and other people have been rude to me on several occasions. i don't know what it is.. the customers are pushy and will not navigate around you its a tiny store so you need to move cooperatively but they dont... the shoppers seem pretentious and entitled and are just rude. the staff are so nice though. kind of expensive but i'll pay it because of the location. but the other customers make me not wana go.
Ok for packaged things, but I was expecting more from their produce section simply because of the name. Very limited fruits and veggies, not to mention they weren’t even very fresh looking.
Nice place to grab quick items for a recipe on my way home from work. I also often grab lunch or snacks here. The store is very small though so it is very limited in what it offers. You'll find a lot of healthy options but I don't think I'd be able to replace the other larger stores I go to for regular weekly groceries.
Good produce, good beers, growlers available with beers and kombucha on tap. Friendly helpful staff. You pay more, but to me as a visitor to Portland, the Green Zebra was a convenient, pleasant shopping experience.
Update: Thank you for taking this seriously Evelyn! Using whole wheat wrap is a smart solution to prevent this from happening again. I am impressed that you are willing to make the proposed modifications, they make me feel appreciated as a customer. I could not be happier with the way you addressed this situation. Original: Bought a veggie breakfast burrito which ended up being a regular burrito with meat that was mislabeled. This is particular unfortunate since one cannot tell until actually taking a bite.
Love having this in the neighborhood! Good selection in general but most importantly a great selection of wines, including boxed wine that’s actually good.
The sumo oranges I bought were PHENOMENAL however their berry bowls are full of moldy berries and I basically wasted $8.
Great selection and couldn't aks for more, but the staff are what put this place above any other, went out of their ways several times when I had food poisoning visiting from Toronto. Love this little compared to WF store.
