I thought I couldn't go wrong trying a classic black bean soup... boy was I wrong... I am only half glad they convinced me to do the soup and sandwich combo, otherwise I would still be hungry. I love black bean soup but this one was too spicy and nobody warned me about it. Cold day and needed warming up but could only stomach 2 spoonfuls. Waste of money... Cesar salad wrap was edible but mostly tasteless. Guess I won't be eating here anytime soon...
Good, fast service with tasty food. Too bad I got sick from eating a salad. i think the food is not kept cool enough as the server complained to me that hot air was blowing on her.
Heads up to the owner…You should hire staff that actually want to work. I came in today at 5:04pm to purchase a soup. I was not sure which soup I wanted to purchase so I asked the employee about the soup. She had an attitude and was very rude with her response. At that point, I didn’t even want the soup. I was courteous and I expect it to be returned. I checked your reviews and your establishment has low ratings, I do see why. This is your establishment and it will not be successful if your employees are rude. I didn’t even want to leave a star but it’s the only way to send this review.
Decent salads at an affordable cost. There aren’t many places in Manhattan that you can find a sizable and filling salad without breaking the bank. I usually stop by hale and hearty for a quick salad on my way out of the city. Service is fair given the amount of traffic and the salads are sizable, tasty depends on dressing, filling and affordable. The bread offered with my salad lacked in freshness. Overall it’s a good spot for a healthy lunch.
Soups are generally good and hot. Service is terrible. I have ordered online for the convenience of picking up my order quickly and getting my train. In quite a few occasions they have either given my order away or not made it because they did not realize they had an online order. This time when my order was given away, no apology was offered not an acknowledgement of their error. Poorly managed!
Great place for a soup and a sandwich. This particular store is in the grand central concourse, and is small, like a quick vendor kiosk. The soup selects are not just your typical soups, some are selection focus on the southwestern theme; takes a bit getting use to, but in a blind taste test they all taste the same but with a variance of salt used. The sandwiches are small. The price is a bit on the high side for what you actually get; i guess you are paying more for their art.
Sometime I feel a little guilty about buying soup from H&H but it's well worth it. I wish the portions were a little bigger, or the prices weren't so high, but I can't make these soups myself so I can't complain. You pay about $5 for a small soup and you're barely full. I always wait for the New England Clam Chowder, Beef Macaroni and Cheese, and Chicken and Corn Bisque. If I'm feeling rich and want to spoil myself, I'll get the Lobster Bisque.
First time back in NYC since COVID the weather a perfect the train ride no complaints after my eye exam I couldn’t leave NYC without my clam chowder from Hale Hearty the cashier asked me to come back in 10 minutes the chowder wasn’t ready I bought the large what a big disappointment in wasn’t warm and I was done after that not many clams must’ve just been a bad Hale Hearty day for me
Service is very prompt, soups are delicious and quality is consistent. Soup flavors rotate daily so you can eat here every day and get a different soup each time! I love the sourdough bread and sandwiches too.
Great soup, great customer service and reasonable prices for the area. Consider getting a combo with half a sandwich because the sandwiches are amazing. The balsamic chicken and avocado is to die for. There's also plenty of seating since it's underground at Grand Central Terminal.
