Hammer Design Build Remodel

Like many other DC homeowners, we purchased our row home “as-is” in July of this year. We knew that we would need some work done to fix what we believed to be “minor” water damage issues. Well, long story short, it turns out the entire back of our house was falling apart from a combination of water and termite damage and we needed all new plumbing. Hammer has been a silver lining in this otherwise trying time. Greg has worked with us over the past 2+ months to stick as closely to our budget as possible even in the wake of new and expensive discoveries that have popped up during the remodel. Greg’s team is professional and respectful. They took our concerns seriously, including the one about keeping our two cats safe from the construction work. Although it is unfortunate that we needed the extent of work done that we did, we are very glad we chose Hammer to help us. Greg had to coordinate numerous different trades because of our extensive list of repairs, and we felt confident in both his ability to do so and the ability in the different contractors he worked with along the way. We look forward to working with Greg and Hammer in the future, hopefully on cosmetic rather than structural work!

We wanted to renovate our already finished basement to serve as a in-law suite. After meeting with several contractors, we went with Greg and Hammer Contractors and were extremely pleased with the results. Hammer Contractors installed a full kitchen with gas range/oven, sink, cabinetry, refrigerator hook-up, granite countertops and hardwood floors. An interior wall was also framed out to create a bedroom and the half bath was converted to a full bath by adding a shower enclosure. Throughout the entire process, the designer Andres, Greg and Jorge were a pleasure to work with. Initially, there were a couple back and forth meetings where the scope of work and materials were hashed out. Once agreed upon, the cost remained the same throughout the entire process with no hidden or discovered expenses. The timeline was followed nearly to a tee despite some challenges with the weather. At the time of the renovation, I had another contractor renovating my master bathroom. Comparing the two contractors were like night and day. Hammer's guys would show up first thing in the morning and work full days. They were always very polite and accommodating to my family as we were living through the renovation and constantly checking on the progress. Overall, the project finished on budget and on time and everyone associated with Hammer was a pleasure to work with. I would definitely work with Hammer again and have already recommended them to neighbors. From day one and throughout the entire process, I was very impressed with Hammer's professionalism and communication and am extremely pleased with the quality of the work.

We recently were looking to build an addition to our single family home to build an in-law suite. After multiple meetings, we decided on Hammer Contractors for this addition. Hammer Contractors were very professional and patient with our multiple questions and needs. Everyone we worked with were friendly, knowledgeable and an expert in the field. We worked with their design specialist to create the best design with the space available. The account/sales manager was very patient and provided all details and help needed on our project. The project manager communicated with us the entire time and ensured the project stayed on track as best as possible. The craftsmanship was top notch and everything was done as described in our plan. We finished the project and our in-laws have moved in and started using the space with great happiness. For our next project, we will only need to call one company, Hammer Contractors for any and all needs with our home.

Hammer came well recommended to rebuild our large composite deck. Their early advice to replace the substructure was spot on. I did the demolition work and saw firsthand the need to start clean. They supported and added to our design ideas, and the finished product with hidden fasteners and smooth surfaces has a solid feel. Their craftsmanship and attention to detail came through in each step - not just the visible finish work. They went the extra mile for a structure that will last a VERY long time. Their work was clean and easily passed inspections. We love our new deck!

Our small "water issue" job turned into a complete back of house two story renovation. Hammer did a fantastic job, and helped us get through the project as new homeowners who had no idea what we were getting in to. We had a lot of structural and framing issues hiding behind our 1911 home's walls. Between managing our plumbing updates around our existing ductwork, structural updates, complete exterior update, they kept us informed of all our options and provided ways so stay on budget. Greg was always there to answer any questions, no matter the time of day. We are very appreciative of him and his team. The team went above and beyond several times to make the final product a cohesive one ie finishing the new floor path to match the old on their dime/time. Huge thank you to him and his team.

Hammer just finished a total kitchen remodel for us. We had hesitated doing anything because we didn't know what we wanted, just what we wanted changed. Andres and Greg devised a great design with our input, and Jorge and his top-notch crew built it in about a month. They were hard working and meticulous; kept the space clean during demolition and construction; and worked quickly and efficiently. We recommend them without hesitation.

We recently hired Hammer to renovate our kitchen. Although we originally intended to simply replace the cabinets and appliances, Andres presented us with several different possible designs, and we ended up changing the layout of the room. Greg walked us through the process and the various options, and we realized that we could change the design without too much of a change to our budget. Everyone from Hammer was very professional and responsive throughout the process. Andres was very helpful as we made decisions about things like countertops, backsplash, and paint. Jorge, Rafael, and the rest of the team made sure all the work was done on schedule and according to the design. Even after the renovation was done, everyone at Hammer was helpful in resolving minor issues and answering questions. We would definitely hire Hammer for projects in the future.

Hammer Contractors just completed a multi-room renovation for me -- primarily finishing the basement but also redoing the deck and remodeling the laundry room and garage. First and foremost, the quality of the work produced by each member of the Hammer team was exemplary as well as thoughtful. Many details and finishing touches were things I never would have thought of, but very much appreciate in the finished work. From the design of the project to project management to execution of the work, Hammer brought excellence, professionalism and a teamwork approach. The team was courteous and professional while working in my home and maintained an impeccable work space during the project. I felt comfortable that I understood all of the aspects of the work -- from permitting issues to design concepts to construction details. And finally, Greg, Jorge, Andres and their team were unfailingly pleasant, kind, patient and dedicated to completing the project to my satisfaction and beyond. Hammer contractors just finished two projects at our home – a new deck and kitchen update project new kitchen island, molding on existing cabinets. We couldn’t be more satisfied with our experience. Their professionalism, know-how, communication, and technology are second to none. They truly did go the extra mile in completing our projects, doing whatever they could to make sure we were completely satisfied. We completed a number of projects on our home improvement list this time around, but will certainly be coming back to Hammer when we’re ready for our next project.
