Harbor Hounds

Decided against bringing our dogs here. Place was clean and the staff (There were 2. Maybe there were more but I didn't see them) seemed nice, but the rows of cement kennels and wire fences depressed me. Our dogs are accustomed to open rooms with lots of doggie furniture and cozy places to curl up, and their carers are always with them for cuddles and attention. After walking past the kennels I asked about play areas. She seemed surprised and showed me an indoor room and then an outdoor area. There were no dogs in either place. The dogs in the kennels were mostly large and high energy. Not sure if smaller, quieter dogs or dogs who aren't accustomed to being in kennels would fare well here.

Tried to board our puppy and big German Shepard here for 3 days, got a call complaining that the puppy was licking and jumping up on the worker!? Then they said the had to move our dogs from the kennel because another dog was coming in? Expected higher standards.

I highly recommend Harbor Hounds. We were in Rockland for a day of sailing and needed to send our 4 month old lab to day care. In my experience, the staff were caring and intent on providing great care. The facility also seemed excellent. The cost was an excellent value. I will definitely use this facility again.
