Great shop offering chocolate from Brazil! The cacau is a unique flavor, as is all roasted foods from the world. 77% bar is the best by far. Muito Gostoso!!!!!
Hidden in a corner of the Wharf, I found a novel boutique chocolate shop that sells locally produced chocolate from imported ecologically grown beans. I love the small, local feel of the shop. I loved the opportunity to taste some excellent high end chocolate before I purchased these wonderful DC made gifts for friends.
Delicious bean to bar artisan dark chocolate with a wonderful cause. This hidden gem boutique is tucked away in an alley at the Wharf, definitely worth checking out! The owner, Sam, kindly walked us through the process of making bean to bar chocolate by partnering with local farmers and sourcing cocoa beans from Brazil's Atlantic and Amazon rainforests. Interesting to know that the company is named after the tropical rain forest birds Harper and Macaw as a portion of the proceeds go towards Amazon and Atlantic rainforest conservation in Brazil. At over 70%, the decadent dark chocolate is quite rich and smooth. I enjoyed the different blends particularly the ones barrel-aged in bourbon, Bordeaux, and rye whiskey barrels for 6-8 months. The barrel-age adds a nice layer of complexity and elevated the flavor of the chocolate. The scrumptious samples were divine! Bought 3 bars of chocolate - 74% Atlantic Rainforest, 70% Brazilian Rainforest Blend, and 70% Bordeaux Barrel-age. The sample batch chocolates expire at different times in 15-18 months ranging from June - Sept 2020, so check the back! Delicious hand-made chocolate - glad to support a noteworthy cause!
Great location and cute storefront but not much product. There is very little selection and they are all packaged bars of chocolate. When we were looking for artisan chocolates this is not what we had in mind but seeing as we were from out of town we made the most of our long walk and bought some chocolate anyway and it was good.
This was a very cool place with delicious chocolate! We went in to look for a birthday present for my mother in law, and they let us taste all of the varieties of chocolate and described each one. I highly recommend dropping by if you’re in the area.
Not exactly what i expected. It was very minimalistic, so I didn't really like it, but anyone who wants a variety of eco-friendly dark chocolate should come here anyways. They have a variety of flavors and their goal is to preserve the rainforest as best they can
It's a pretty cute tiny place where you can try out chocolate samples and buy chocolate, drinking chocolate, etc. They have chocolate making tours at another location of theirs in DC.
I love this boutique
