Every staff member I have talked to is very helpful and friendly. Thank you to the front desk manager in the morning who kindly allowed me to use the luggage cart to move my daughter’s luggage to the Harvard Yard. The late check in the night before was very smooth and fast so that we could enter our room and start rest immediately after a long and late flight. Overall very nice experience. The room is very clean and the beds are clean and comfortable. House keeping does a wonderful job also. The guests can always have drinking water hot, room temperature, or cold, in addition to coffees and teas. It’s not a luxurious level but you can enjoy a very comfortable and pleasant stay. Last but not the least, it’s just one block from the Harvard Yard.
The stay was actually fine. It is a no frills hotel with really pleasant hotel staff. They were so nice ! Unfortunately they are not so nice when they are inconvenienced. During our stay, I spilled an açaí bowl. It was the middle of the night so I cleaned up what I could with tissues and left a note. We received a call the next morning - strange time to receive a call- stating that we left the room in disarray and ruined towels. We, however, did not touch any towels with our spill. We are being charged $250 for the towels that their cleaning staff used to clean the spill. The accusations and disgruntled nature of the staff is now apparent to us and what was a 5 star stay when we left is a 1 star stay now. Good thing we stayed at the Charles Hotel next door the following night ! No issues. Go there.
Very bad hotel! After a long drive from the city of Buffalo, we decided to stay at the nearest good hotel in the Cambridge area. We chose them based on the booking rating and an acceptable price. The name of the hotel is - Harvard Square Hotel. But we immediately started having problems at the reception desk, the guy from the reception seemed very rude to us. Because of its inadequate service, we did not want to stay in this hotel. He told us that we could cancel the reservation and no money would be debited from our account. With him, we canceled our reservation and went to look for another hotel, but after leaving the Harvard Square Hotel, money was withdrawn from our account. Although on the advice of the guy from the reception, we canceled the reservation at the front desk. It turns out he deceived us We ask you to return the money, and avoid this hotel.
On my second night staying there, the shower handle to change the temperature and turn on the water fell off and to the ground with a heavy clank. I'm glad it didn't hit my feet! Never had that happen before, even at much more budget hotels. When I talked to the front desk, I had to be the one to suggest switching rooms as it could apparently not be repaired at that hour, which was granted but a little annoying at that hour, and the room I was switched to was worse in size and amenities than my original room, unfortunately.
Perfect location. And they charge for that a lot!! Rooms are a little tight. Clean, modern. Hardly a reception area, just coffee in the lobby.Rooms: 4/5
My family and I chose to stay at Harvard Square Hotel for our college reunion the first weekend in June, knowing that they had just reopened on May 15th and that there were no recent online reviews. That was a mistake. I don’t know what was renovated, but the $500+ we paid per room did not match the level of service or amenities offered. I do not recommend HSH.
VERY clean and nice. Room had tons of receptacles for charging devices, bed was comfortable, nice touch having coffee, tea and water available in the lobby. Extremely convenient location, and helpful, friendly staff. I loved that the room was not carpeted, felt very clean.... But.... by all that's holy do not let them put you in a room on the first floor in the winter. The garage is directly underneath, and there seems to be a lack of insulation. No matter how warm the rest of the room was, the floor in the main room was extremely cold, and the bathroom more so. Water was slow to heat up making the shower serviceable but not an entirely pleasant experience. Overall, a very good experience, but would not want a first floor room again.
The staff here was great. I asked a quick question on our way out. As I was making my way to the car, the guy from the front desk ran over with some additional information. The shower had awesome water pressure combined with a good shower head. The pillows were super uncomfortable, but that is really the only bad thing I can say about the place. It was a great experience all around.
The staff there is amazing. They were very accommodating and helpful on all fronts. The rooms are very small though. Half the rooms have a hallway which gives you a much more open feel compared to the half without which feel more cramped. The lack of breakfast hurts a bit too because I didn't really like the options around. Still though the service was incredible and made up for a lot of shortcomings. I've stayed at this hotel for the best two years during the Head of the Charles.
I'm here for a conference for a few days and this is the hotel that the conference organizer booked. Giving 2 stars for many reasons: 1. my room smells really bad so after check-in I went to the front desk to ask for a new room, but they asked `how does it smell like?' but the thing is it doesn't smell exactly like something that I know of but it smells bad, and the front desk person asked another 10 times how it smells like, and eventually did not change room for me. 2. the wraps of their soap and shower cap look very very used, which made me suspect they collected them from the trash can and re-used them, because otherwise there's no way for them to look so used. 3. the design of the shower is such that the door does not completely close, so after you shower the floor will be very wet don't think they have a carpet either. 4. the floor of the shower room close to the sink is completely black, which is probably mold. 5. room is quite small. 6. the clock is set at the wrong time and it's very bright so it affects your sleep. So all in all really not worth the $300 per night. Could have gotten a really nice airbnb with this much money.
