Hawaii State Public Library System - Liliha Library

Went in to browse, and was thrilled to find & peruse the extensive, for O'ahu, Chinese-language book selection. Definitely the best on the island. Kind & helpful staff at this bright & airy library branch. Parking on the roof is cool, too.

An open library is a good library. Bias. Smaller Chinese collection than I remembered but not bad. Childrens is same location, behind the gate with blue bookcase in pictures, near entrance, which also has $1 flat rate book sale on the left. The bookshelves seem to be much lower than I remembered as a short kid. :/ Adult fiction is on the wall shelves along with classics. YA plus manga is now next to check out desk on the left across from nonfiction. CDs albums for rent next to computers. 15 cents for black ink to print.

I just returned from Liliha library and was so disappointed. Having been going there for the past year with no problem, I was taken aback today when a young black male was first approached, then me, and we were both told that where we were sitting separate charging tables was an Asian preferred reading area and if an Asian wanted to sit in that area we would be asked to move. There is no sign that states this not that they would place one out anyway and this has never been brought to my attention before. I thought this was a PUBLIC library. Needless to say I will be going to the Main library from now on!

Love coming to this library because it's cool, the staff is friendly, and there's a good amount of parking.

I provided the Library with APPROVED LEGAL AFFIDAVITS in writing and the next day a Black American woman from the IHS shelter pressed a button on her ear and the Asian woman library manager called the police while I was on the phone changing my tampon in the bathroom. The staff at Liliha Public Library are all wonderful, especially the woman who used to be the young-adult books librarian I don't know her name - she spent so much time with me and my sons recommending books for EACH of us, and with joy and enthusiasm! The newly renovated library looks great, too!

Worn out facility. Furnishings are shot. No outlets for electronics. Strong mildew smell. Based on the fact that things appear clean, I surmise that the staff is doing what they can with limited resources.

Lots of cubical space for private studying, only six computers for internet use four with chairs the rest you must stand. Stools requested for the other internet stations

very helpful , they printed out tax documents for only 10cents , if u need them to print out document applications they will help very friendly workers, good for children and adults , you can also rent dvds n cds $1 or less,

They currently have 4 computers working and you'll have to wait so long to get to use one of em. Ugh. But they have great hardworking and helpful staffs tho so
