Really cool coffee shop. Fast yet busy. Plenty of workers to get the job done. First time there and surely not my last. Great great brew with two shots on the side. Old bowling alley and really unique setup. Highly recommend. Will be back!!
Pretty neat little place with great prices. Their bloodies are awesome and they come with PBRs! Awesome concept with it being built inside of an old bowling alley. I forgot the name of the bowling alley though
Kind and knowledgeable staff. Coffee is roasted on site and tastes like specialty coffee should. I asked for a recommendation, and it was exactly what I like! Only option is pour over if you want regular drip coffee, and the baristas did a great job with it. That’s probably my favorite part of this cafe. “Slow bar” is a risky thing to do in the coffee world, but everyone gets a fresh, hand-poured cup of coffee. It’s worth the wait. Atmosphere was vintage cool, and again, the baristas were warm and friendly. So, that made the vibe even better. I’ll go back when I’m looking for a good space to enjoy a great cup of coffee. The 2 hr limit on the WiFi will prevent me from coming to work from there though.
Unique space former sports bar and bowling alley, online table ordering is available and was well done. COVID distancing was also done well and feels as natural as possible. Great pour over coffee and breakfast sandwiches. I love the individual coffee service.
I like coming here for the espresso! Coffee beans are perfectly roasted, and I like the decor inside. Service is very good too, baristas are very knowledgeable. The one downside is that they usually do not have decaffeinated coffee beverages available on site but they do have whole beans to go.
One of my favorite local coffee roasters in Milwaukee. Their staff is always friendly and they go above and beyond in their customer service. The space is large and great for coming to sit down and read or work for hours. Lots of tables, but the bar seats are the best. My personal favorite roast is their Guatemala, but you can’t go wrong with any of them depending on your preference. They have an incredible selection of coffee/cocktail-inspired mocktails and speciality drinks as well, but they will give just as much respect and care to a simple pour over order. This place is worth the drive even if you don’t live on this side of town. Thanks for being a day brightener always, Hawthorne team!
I had a great first time experience at this place yesterday. I was looking for some to work for an hour before picking up my girlfriend at the airport. The barista who I eventually remembered from another coffee shop was pleasant and professional from the time I walked in, until I left right at closing time. She invited me to try this mocktail see picture. I’ll be back! Peace, Ambrose WB
Steve and Kendra run an amazing coffee shop on the city’s south side. I’ve been a frequent customer for many years and have always enjoyed their offerings and conversation. Highly recommend “The Hawthorne” which is a shot of espresso, a pour over, and a cold brew get the barrel aged version.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: YesTakeout: YesDelivery: YesCurbside pickup: Yes
We went to try the vegan breakfast options. My husband loved the ability to customize everything. We sat at the bar, which we didn't know we could order from. The line was long and it was a Saturday morning. Ordering went fast and our food came out fast. Pour over took a while- I was halfway through my sandwich before I got coffee. When the coffee arrived it was in a very cute presentation.
This was my second time visiting. I was told - at 10 AM on a Saturday morning - that one of their signature drinks, the barrel brew was out of stock. For you to be “out of stock” on a Saturday morning is TERRIBLE business planning. Then, when we were at our table, two different workers brought us two different orders, and barely said a word to us. “Here you are” and walked away. We had no idea why they kept dropping off orders that weren’t ours, or staying long enough to say something. The building is a good start, but they need a serious building manager. The bathrooms especially need help. My main complaint is the unprofessional dress of one of the female employees. She wore a tank top and had her shirt knitted to show her belly button. This is completely inappropriate for a coffee shop on a chilly October morning, where families bring their children. **In response to your response - saying that she is a mom & business owner and that she hasn’t violated your dress code, that does not make it okay to dress like a Hooter’s waitress on game night. This business is very immature, but has potential.
