This is a VERY sexist company. It’s poorly ran and the management and upper department heads are being fired and replaced constantly. They bring in temps and train them using YOUR data with open access to your records and information. The management here does no research or follow through about their employees and there is literally no security. Think twice about becoming an employee here especially if you are a male, the team of management are sexist and biased against men. If I was a provider there is no way in hell I’d bring my company through here

This is not an organized insurance company, unless their goal is to be organized about telling you multiple different things and then reneging on all of them. I want to first note that I had no problems with billing for my primary care needs. However, when it came to dental/orthodontic billing, my experience has been frustrating (to say the least). I was excited to see that one of the benefits was that they pay 50% of your orthodontic treatment, up to $2,500. I contacted the company multiple times before I began treatment so I could understand how their portion is paid out. I got a different answer each time, but finally was able to reach a conclusion through my dentists office. The final word was that HMA would pay half their portion ($1,250) up front, and pay the rest out in monthly installments for the duration of my treatment. That seemed fair to me. Yesterday I received an EOB from HMA stating they were not going to pay anything for my Invisalign, and there was one short note that stated it was “billed incorrectly” because they “only pay monthly” and pay nothing up front. This is the fourth change in their “policy” that I’ve been told. I am changing jobs and will no longer be covered by HMA after this month, so it’s convenient for them that they changed their minds about the way they pay out my claim. Essentially, I am paying for the entirety of my Invisalign treatment since what they have paid is minuscule. Thankfully, I have an amazing dentist/orthodontist who is working with me on the billing after this latest development.

I have spent hours of time with customer service. I have also spent hours of time on the insurance website portal, for which they refer you for information. I have received incorrect information in both places. It has listed a provider as in-network on the website, to find out it was out of network when speaking with the provider. If I had a choice, I would go somewhere else.
