Heath Properties

I lived in one of the properties that this place owns. It was horrible. Living there was great because it was close to where I went to work, and the amenities in the apartment were not bad. The laundry machines sucked, they would take two cycles to dry the clothes, there was a problem with drainage in the machines and it caused drain flies to infest the entire place and sometimes get into the apartment as well. Heath did nothing to help this, eventually I as well as some other tenants cleaned the drain. That solved the problem for about half a year. There was a really bad spider and bug infestation, at least 6 different spider types, many ants in the bathroom, centipedes, silverfish, etc. and Heath was supposed to have pest control or exterminators come. They never did come, and I called them several times about the matter. Never once did they come. There was a really bad water stain and a leak that occurred it stopped because the tenants upstairs had their sink fixed and it did not stop until the city inspectors came to check on the living conditions of the apartment. The inspectors had to come 3 times before Heath finally fixed it. And if you get locked out of your apartment, it is a $200 lock out fee, which is 4x the price of other apartments that charge this fee. They never respond to emails, and calling them takes forever. And only sometimes after calling not email will they actually get you the maintenance you need.

If you decide to rent from this group, make sure you take photos of everything that is wrong in the apartment, get it notarized and list them on paper and turn in an apartment check-in form within the first two weeks. This company never fixes things and keeps a deposit from every renter unless you have photos to prove that they existed before you lived there. Best thing of course would be to never rent from them.

If I could give them ZERO stars I would! Anyone needing a place in Boston, please do not go through Heath properties. They could not care less about their tenants like not doing a thing when mold was exponentially growing in my bedroom nor are they responsive to anything. The cherry on top is when they make you vacate your unit early to “hire professional cleaners” but then expect the tenants to clean it out of pocket “to make it look professionally cleaned” because they want free labor and then deduct from your deposit any tiny smudge in the place. Worst rental company ever.

If I could 0 stars, I’d do that! They deducted a huge amount of our security deposit citing damages and not returning mailbox keys. We MAILED THEM MORE THAN 2 times to fix those damages because they were already damaged when we moved in to begin with. Speaking of mailbox keys, we didn’t even get our mailbox keys when we moved in. Never lease with them. Not worth the mental trouble

I have been living in rented properties since my college days in Boston, but Heath properties is the only worst property management company I have came across. We have been out of hot water during the peak winter season and the management didn’t have anyone to come and fix it. The apartment had insulation problems as well where there is loss of heat which leads to about a bill of about $500 but management had no interest in fixing the basic issues which are apparently violation of laws in Massachusetts. I would surely suggest not to live in any of Heath properties maintained apartments. And if you do Best of luck!
