I had the most amazing experience here at Jacks of all Fades. I was running late to my first date and they attended me right away. they served me a shot and gave me the best fade ive ever gotten. the guys are really amazing, chill, and very attentative to all my needs. Best barber shop ive ever been to so far
This barber shop was found doing a search through Google—then onto the website to make and confirm an appointment on the same day. Upon arrival, much earlier than anticipated finding the spot nestled by other empty places for lease, stepped in and invited to have a seat. It was a good hour and a half before my appointment time. There were two barbers working. The fellow closest to the window had a customer in his chair and was working on him as he shaped the hair. A bit more overweight than normal. And looking as though at some other time, decades ago perhaps, he would have been considered very good looking. But, now faded. Aside the other barber who had been diligently working on a customer, noted, that for whatever reason during the waiting time seated there, the fatter one made a grimace and kept his tongue sticking out of his mouth pointedly at face, for a good two minutes while his customer was getting ready to leave the chair and depart. There was no provocation. But the reactions unsettled before I was guided to the other barber to have a seat while he went to the bathroom. The haircut, was actually a cleanup. Around the nape of the neck and sideburns. Nothing more. There was a fair exchange about being Jewish since there was a mezuzah at the doorway entrance. The cut was easily completed—but had to marshall over to the nearest bank a couple of blocks away to grab a twenty for the cut. They wouldn’t accept a phone card charge. So having walked to and from the barbershop for the cash then, return, thanked the barber for the time. The other one was a bit of a prick—and of course, personally, perfectly annoyingly [a creep]. Don’t misunderstand why—but who would ever recommend this place unless you were already former and present customers. Okay, sure, a decent place but by the displeased with the underlying [sic] displayed attitude—that was not acceptable. Plus overhead uncertainties about their style of haircuts based on what the last customer’s complaints were about in the intended results that were unclear to the said instructions made by the customer to the barber beforehand? He looked rather disappointed when he looked at himself in the mirror, by the barber that gave him the cut. Not greatly admirable watching the dialogue transpire between them from afar. Again, for styled haircuts—there are so many other options offered by barbers with a higher quality, pedigree, and level of experienced staff elsewhere anywhere in Manhattan. If it’s convenience for this area it’s probably just that: a convenienced option.
Great place for a cut with a barber and owner who knows how to make a great experience. I don't usually leave reviews but I often struggle finding a barber who can provide a cut of good quality and specifically the owner, Boris closest to the window/register, has never failed and makes getting a cut something to look forward to. Great experience overall. Addressing the negative reviews, specifically the most recent by who is flat out being rude and clearly overexaggerating on their judgmental comments, this is never the experience I've had whether I'm waiting and observing or in the middle of a cut. It couldn't be more off, and I highly encourage anyone reading these to make a decision as I did to ignore those comments and see for yourself. I'm always positively greeted and feel I'm truly valued as a customer. Boris is always flexible when work gets in the way of an appointment and I need to move things around, has even stayed late on a few different occasions which I never ask for. He is always very friendly, polite, and accommodating. That has always been the case beginning with my first cut 2 months ago after relocating to the neighborhood. I've been to multiple barbers in the area and this is by far my favorite and will continue to be so. I've always seen positive reactions from others getting their cut here as well and have no reason to agree with the negative reviews.Services: Haircut
If you need a messed up cut then come here the guy in the first chair will make sure to thin out the top and you gonna go bald real quick pay attention to the scissors. I wish to give zero stars if Google had it this shop is all about money hard liquor is all fake it's not Glenlivet its a big green bottle of JB you like cheap stuff or when ppl lie to you then this is your place. I saw a few rats running around the shop while being inside so disgusting.
David, who I suppose is currently the only barber at this location, did not listen to my requests multiple times: he asked if I wanted product in my hair, I said no, and then he put gobs of product in anyway; he brought the fade waaaaay higher than he should have and than I asked for; he asked if I wanted my mustache trimmed, I said no and that it’s a personal thing I prefer taking care of myself, he then proceeded to trim my mustache; he ended up taking off significantly more off the top than I asked for and basically buzzed off the back of my head because he had trimmed a cowlicked area too short. Never going back and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone- one of the worst haircut experiences I’ve had in my thirteen years of living in the city.Service: Haircut
Booked an appointment online for 9:30 am, walked up to the store by 9:15 am hoping to get in early, noticed the store says open at 9:00 am, realized no one was there and now it's 9:30 am and there's still no one here. Unreliable and never coming back, don't have time to show up to an appointment where the *professional* doesn't show up.
David delivered one of the best fades I've ever had in my life! His attention to detail is superb and he made absolutely sure that he was giving me the exact style that I wanted - his level of communication and dedication to customer satisfaction is unparalleled. Excellent experience and fantastic fade!Service: Haircut
Very good shave. This barber shop does a full head shampoo + massage.
I didn’t really believe the other reviews here about high fades with no transitions or lopsided trims or way too short, but sadly that’s exactly what happened. Nice guy but would not go back.
Charged me a regular haircut price $40 for a simple undercut trim. Felt like the barber was doing everything extra to justify it. A 10min cut took 20min for no reason Better barber shops in the area, these guys are overpriced and don’t even do that great of a job
