Found this place through a search for soul food. I went with three friends hoping to have a nice, sit-down lunch, but we were disappointed to find this is a takeout shop. The cashier, however, immediately spotted our predicament and had someone from the kitchen take 4 chairs and two tables outside so that we could enjoy a sit-down outdoor meal. We ordered the steak sub, the 8-piece fried chicken box, the BBQ ribs, and the sliced turkey with a side of collard greens and mac and cheese. We also ordered 3 peach cobblers and 1 sweet potato pie. Total bill around $70. The food in general was very good, and the portions were enormous. Only issues were the collard greens and mac and cheese were pretty salty, although my friend liked the salt in the collard greens. The mac and cheese was also a little dry and crumbly, and I like mine dripping with cheese. Peach cobbler was outstanding, as was the sweet potato pie.
So delicious!!! Anything you order you will enjoy. Fried fish, pork chops or chicken is all good!! The peach cobbler and sweet potato pie were sweeeeet and tasty
Went by weekly to take dinner to a friend after church. The last time I went, I ordered on an app, which the manager refused to honor after viewing the screenshot of the order and the debit from my bank account. This site lost a loyal customer.
Today I ordered, baked chicken, mash potatoes, greens beans, fried chicken wings, Mac & cheese , green beans and a slice of sweet potato pie. The Green Beans and Mac & cheese was very very salty on first taste so I couldn’t eat them. The sweet potato pie was super sweet and vanilla extract is all you could taste. You can tell the pie is super sweet from the Clear Jelly look like a bunch of sugar. I don’t know why the food is soooo different from the Oxon Hill location but it’s nothing close to Oxon Hill. It’s been years since I’ve been to U st . And I’m not sure I will be back after today. It was a waste of money on both dinners because of the green beans, Mac & cheese, and the slice of Pie.
Not an "eat in" facility but the service is great and the Food is OUTSTANDING! Consistent quality for over 18 years. Don't go for healthy food.. go for TASTY food!Food: 5/5
I ordered smothered chicken the chicken smelled like old grease and taste like it was cooked 4 days ago my Mac and cheese was watery with no taste and my sweet potato pie look like it was a week old the crust was hard and greasy and the topping was greasy and old tasting horrible a complete waist of money all went in the trash because they didn’t answer the phone when I tried calling
It is not much to say. The food was just ok. I had the baked half chicken. And I did not get a half chicken. The reason I gave it 3 stars is because the food was a little too salty for me. Still looking for my go soul food spot.
Wanting some true soul comfort food. Henry's came up when I did a Google search. It's been at least 5 years since I've been there but let me say that it's always good to go back someplace you have been and not be disappointed. I ordered the smothered chicken which you can have the chicken baked fried, I chose fried with macaroni and cheese and string beans. My oldest ordered the smothered turkey wings with mac & cheese and collard greens. My youngest I got him the fried chicken with mumbo sauce, mac & cheese and greens. The dinners were absolutely delicious and just as I remembered flavorful, plentiful in portion size, I could not eat all of mine and actually have lunch for today. Everything was seasoned well and we throughly enjoyed our meals. Henry's is known for their sweet potatoe pie and I am not a big lover of sweet potato pie but I tried the pie and I will definitely say I will be getting more. The pie was absolutely awesome. I recommend Henry's as I would have years ago if asked about a good soul food place to eat from and I am definitely going back. Thanks to Henry's Cafe staff for the wonderful experience and giving me exactly what I wanted great southern down home comfort food. I'll see you soon. Vegetarian options: You can order an all vegetable plate. A good selection of them on the menu.
My husband and I were visiting from RI and I found Henry's on my yelp app. We love mom and pop places, and this was so worth the visit. The food was absolutely amazing, the plates were loaded with food. Everything was delicious, next time we're in the area we will certainly be back...
