I loved the overall vibe of this store, very old school. Lots of really random finds! It isn’t perfectly organized which ended up being an element I enjoyed, as I stumbled across books I would’ve otherwise overlooked. Nice people and a wide variety of books.
I've been coming here for nearly 40 years. Its quite an adventure to find the book you're looking for, because along the way you find something you weren't looking for and its even better. I've found many treasures here. The family that owns the place is very helpful. I like that they play classical music rather then anything thats loud and noisy. I hope that they're around for many more years to come.
This is my go-to ace for used SF and related books. I've literally spent hours going through the shelves of books and coming out with dozens. The only complaint I would have is that there are a LOT of books and to look through them all, including the ones behind the ones you see, can take extra time as you shift pile from one place to another. This also results in a certain lack of order among the books. They're grouped by categories, but not 100% in alphabetical order. Over the year I've dropped over a grand there and that's just on books with a price range between 2.95 and 4.95.
Been wanting to check this place out for 2 years, and finally made it! It not only didn't disappoint; it exceeded all expectations! <3 The owner was very friendly and helpful to everyone who came through, and you could tell neighborhood regulars knew him and liked him a lot by the way they greeted each other. I've never seen a bookstore like this, and it has pretty much everything you could possibly want, stacked up almost all the way to the ceiling! Once you start noticing the sections, you see that it's amazingly organized and logical in the way books are grouped. I could lose track of time here easily! I saw children's series that I hadn't seen in decades! New releases were towards the front of the shop. Whatever I looked for, I pretty much found. It was my first visit, and I was a bit overwhelmed and couldn't choose anything to buy before closing. Only thing for me is that I live a ways away, and this was a trek that I made just to see this bookstore. If I lived nearby, I would be here ALL THE TIME. Six stars! So charming. Support this unique, local bookstore over chains!
Holy cow! There is a lot of stuffed into this little place. This is the kind of place that you can spend hours in. Very friendly staff, and just a real treasure trove of items. Well let me take some time to find what you're looking for, it's well worth it. There is a method and organization, and once you see it, you'll be able to find what you're looking for. Highly recommended and I can't wait to go back.
It's pretty rare these days to find as good used book store. Especially in Brooklyn where rents are enormous. The owner is very knowledgeable, friendly, and extremely patient. Has thousands of old and even current books. Prices are ok compared to most places and even with Amazon. But when you are in a hurry to get a few books to read right away, this place is a Gem! I do there constantly and will continue to do so.
Great place, so many books and great prices, coming here hopefully everybtwo weeks
This bookstore is so charming, yet so messy; so incomprehensible, yet EVERYTHING I read/collect was in one contiguous section. The stacks are super dusty, cobwebs abundant, unkempt, random piles all over, yet: it's such a charming, labyrinthine shop, with hidden treasure all over. The proprietor is very friendly and enthused by the very notion that there are so many books around him, and the music of the store is done Favorite Classical Music Hits, so I CERTAINLY approve of this place.
Great book store. The owner is very helpful. Just tell him what type of books you want and he'll show you where to find them and make recommendations of other authors. Great prices
Thr best bookstore in the world. Why? Because its still brick and mortar and open. I love books! I love kindle and technology but above all I am a paper person who loves his Remarkable tablet as well as the scent of a musty old book. Find a passion and believe that books are not overrated as the great Marcus Lemonis says. To me Heres a Bookstore is a testament to the hardwork of Doron and his mother and the family owned businesses including bookstores that have been disrupted by tech giants like Amazon. Needless to say I hope they thrive until 120 because my sunday ritual has been to get a few good books to delight and stimulate my mind in this trying sensitive times. Thank you Heres a Bookstore!
