I booked online and had no issue getting a rental car at Hertz. This Hertz office is located in the heart of Center City.  It was very easy and convenient for a first-time Philadelphia visitor like myself to locate the office quickly. This place has good Covid safe practice.  As the office is very small, they only allow one customer at a time in the office. Jeff is an awesome manager who helped me go through the entire process without any issue.  He was very thoughtful and professional. They had plenty of car options when I visited.  I think it is always better to visit the office as early as possible before their cars run out. I will definitely re-visit this office whenever I need a rental car as long as they offer a competitive rate.
Great staff, very friendly! It is not wheelchair accessible which created difficulties for my wife and I. The staff provided us with a different car than reserved. I wish they explained the Ez-Pass and how the pricing would work. The pick up has a giant step inside. There is a side waiting area that is covered. The drop off is also confusing and could be better explained since it’s tied with a valet. Please see the big step into the hertz without an accessible entrance option.
The manager Neil took 15+ minutes to get our car. No one was in front of us. He was friendly and a nice guy but after we left we noticed the tank was barely half-full and he marked it as full tank. The mileage he entered was way off too. Glad I took picture. Also, we were charged $50 for refueling the tank through Hertz even though I selected to refuel ourselves when making reservation. Not sure if that was his mistake or the nice ladies at counter. Neil was also asking for us to leave them a good review on Google. If you're going to solicit reviews then at least make sure all the basics are correct. We had to stand in the hot sun trying to straighten out the errors on returning the car. Also the red Camaro we rented shakes once it goes up about 60 MPH. I hope someone is checking into that. Way too new of a car to do that. Focus on doing everything correctly then the good review will come in. I would have liked to leave a good review for him here but there's no reason to take all that time and not verify that everything is correct.
Guys who work here are great. I have nothing to complain about as far as that. Hertz is an unethical, scummy, dishonest scam. They have been charging me for over six months now for toll fees. Expect each individual toll fee to be 35-88 dollars. They have charged me for tolls I didn't take, or the same toll multiple times. They will add nonsense up charges to these fraudulent toll fees. I have rented cars multiple times., And I have never seen something like this before. Unless insurance is paying in full, avoid.
I know hertz isn’t exactly known for their customer service, but geez the employees here bring the experience down to a whole new low. I had a car reserved for the weekend at this location, but when I walked in to pick up the car, there were no cars available. Extremely disappointing, but I can understand that sometimes, unexpected things do happen. I asked the employees here for assistance - to find out whether and when the next car would be available for pick up at that location, and to check whether there was an availability at the nearby 30th street hertz location. Got absolutely nothing in response except being told to walk there and find out. So I left my contact details there and asked them to call when the next car rolled in while I went to the other location. I was assured that I was the first on the waitlist and i would be called as soon as the next car was available. So I walk to the other location, in the rain, only to find out that there was no availability at the other place either. After leaving my details at the other location, I walked back to the original location to wait, only to see a car, that had just been returned, being handed to someone else who presumably arrived in the time I was walking to the other location and back. When I asked the employees why I was not contacted when this car was returned, and why the car was being handed off to someone else when I was assured I was the first on the waitlist, they said they forgot about the waitlist??? When I tried to complain about their apathetic behavior and frankly appalling customer service, I was told that this is how they operated as per their branch managers policy?? Hertz has been the most unhelpful since none of their customer service numbers actually connect to a human agent and are all automated responses. I usually dont post reviews, even negative ones because employees are also humans, often underpaid and overworked. But this level of apathy, ineptitude and lack of regard for a customer is frankly appalling, and deserves to be called out and shamed. I am truly disappointed in hertz, and more specifically this location. I doubt these people will see any of my business in the future.
Returned with a full tank of gas. Got charged $110 a week later for not returning with a full tank of gas. Also got a $155 ez pass charge for $25 worth of tolls. They knew I wouldn’t save my receipts, bunch of liars. SAVE YOUR RECEIPTS
I booked a car on line Aug. 22, 2022, l reserve the car for Aug. 27-29, 2022. When I got to Hertz there was 2 other ppl waiting, The cashier was not in the office, I waited about 5 mins, The guy that waited on me he was nice & professional & friendly, They bring you the rented car 2 U, Since all the rental cars was all rented out, he gve me a free upgrade, A SUV, they said they cleaned the SUV but it wasn't clean, I was happy 2 get a free SUV upgrade, I bring it back, The lady was so nice & told me H much everything was gonna cost, If you a Tripple AAA member U get a discount. I was a very happy & satisfied customer.
Bryan at Counter was great! He kept me informed in car shortage situation and was able due to God's timing get me vehicle that day to get out of the city before rush hr! The place was clean and handled a number of upset customers well!
Pros: I had good service. It was quick and I really appreciate the manager's flexibility and service. His name was Quaseem and he did a good job when he handled out case. Cons: There is no overnight drop off, hours are limited and it is a small office. You have to wait outside when it is too crowded.
if I could give this place 0 stars, I would. First, Hertz as a company is bad due to allowing reservations and then when you go to a location - that's when they tell you that they don't have any cars. No one calls beforehand, no email, no communication prior. This location was the second hertz that I went to. I had a reservation at 5pm on a monday, and it was made the previous saturday morning. When I got there on monday, around 4:40 - they told me that there were no more cars available and that I could wait for one to get returned, but that there was no guarantee. I wanted until about 5:15 and the girl at the desk, either Siani or Sierra told me that to come back in the morning, between 9-10am, 10am AT THE LATEST to get a car that she would HOLD for me. I get there the next morning, at 9am and she's not even there. The girl that was currently there even complained that Sierra always tells customers that she'll be there in the morning, even though she knows she won't be there. It's 2 other people in front of me and the girl tells all 3 of us that they won't have cars available until 11am. One guy canceled his reservation and the other guy attempted to move his to another location. However, this was my SECOND Hertz location. The girl apologized, took down my name and number and said she would call me when a car comes in. I called back 10 minutes after 11 to be told that they STILL didn't have any cars come in. I then asked to speak to a manager and was put on hold for about 10 minutes until the girl Sierra came back and stated that one of her managers were on an interview, the other one was in a meeting and that he would either call me back or I could go BACK to my first hertz location since "that's where I had the reservation at" which was completely incorrect because I had the reservation changed to this location since the other one didn't have any cars. EVERYONE here is unprofessional and nobody wants to take accountability for being horrible at their job. poor company, poor management.
