Updating to 4 stars from 3 because after being on island for 2 years I realize it really is the best skatepark on the island, but I wish the admission was a little higher so they could afford to update the facility. Being on base, I know people want things like this to be free or insanely cheap, but it could be so much nicer! Terrible hours and needs some TLC. Friendly staff, cheap and decent features.
If you have base access this is a must skate! Everyone was polite and the place is huge. There is a minimal fee to get in and they have rental equipment. As of now, hours were 12:00pm to 5:00pm.
Met pro skater and owner Chris Kays Some skaters including myself are willing to teach and offer classes if you want to come by Saturday afternoons. Super chill and friendly. No ruckus
It is a great place for park skaters and if you want to watch skaters from the spacious spectating bench. This park is the best park I have ever been to with widely ranging ramps. I highly recommend not to come here for street skating to not get in the way and Ave a more enjoyable experience. Standard entrance fee is 8 dollars but can be lowered to 5 if you become a member. Highly recommend for beginners and experts.
It does cost $8 for admission unless you are a member, which cost $40 to sign up annually and then $5 every entry so it's kinda pricey. However it's gonna cost to upkeep the ramps. My tween loves this place! It's great for all levels of skaters.
The hanger itself is great. The hours really suck. Especially since it doesn't open until after noon on the weekends. Two bowls, a half pipe, a mini half-pipe, lots of quarters. There are a few vending machines tucked in a corner. If you don't have a membership it costs $8 each for an all day pass. Bicycles are only allowed on certain days. Helmets are required.
This place is really cool. It's on base, safe, and monitored by an attendant. There are a TON of ramps, transitions, and boxes for the kids to chain. It's about 8 bucks to go for the day and my son loves it.
Seems like a pretty cool place but I've never been inside
I first went to this park in 2000. Not much has changed in 16 years. Ramps need to be resurfaced, the "street" area needs to be resurfaced and UPDATED to include the actual ground, the 3/4 pipe is a waste of space. The front bowl and the new mini ramp make the hangar tolerable. Not sure where all the money goes they get from annual dues, monthly skate passes, and entrance fees. Maybe MWR is building parks at all the other bases with the money. Save your money and go to Manana, Hawaii Kai, or Banzai skateparks.
When I first moved to Hawaii they let me in for free and then I went there all the time and I love the ramp but they are old enough thay are from 1960 but otherwise in pretty decent
