stopped in for drinks and they were made to perfection. i think it was the owner who opened the door for us and was very welcoming which caught my curiosity to see what the food menu was about. ordered to go, gumbo and baked chicken: both lacked flavor, and the gumbo is really basic however i recommend you give it a try. this place is usually packed. has a lot of character. street parking, paid and free residential
The restaurant was nice and service was great. The chicken was good but I was hoping the waffle would have a little flavor to it. It was just okay. Bacon and eggs were good. The mac and cheese was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend.Recommended dishesMac & Cheese
I love me some HighHat. Their menu reminds me of living with my grandmother. My friend who LOVES burgers really likes the one here. I can never get it because I am too distracted by the rest of the menu. The fried catfish is great & hard not to reorder. Had the daily special of fried chicken last time I was there. My wife had the grits which I snuck a taste of....so dang good! I had the green beans & they were perfect! The fried chicken was served piping hot & so crispy! Treat yourself & get the housemade lemonade
Great food. Great service. We ended up here after a few local people recommended it. Food was exceptional, mouth watering and tasty and filling. The hot sauce homemade is what I needed. Solid drinks. Big portions. Definitely shareable but I am glad I didn't share. It's about a 1/2 chicken. I can't recommendsl it enough.
The staff was super friendly and it’s a cute welcoming place. The drinks are decently priced, and there’s a little bit of everything on the menu. The cheese grits are delicious! But everything else was just ok.
Had a very delightful lunch with my wife. Had a pretty packed dining room for a Saturday afternoon lunch. Our servers, bartenders, and overall atmosphere was perfect. Started off with some drinks at the bar while we waited a short 15 minute wait for our table. I had a Sierra Nevada Hazy Little Thing I.P.A. and she a fresh watermelon mojito. After we were seated, we ordered a bowl of chicken and sausage gumbo to share, Cuban sandwich with fresh-cut fries. for me and a special baby greens salad with blue cheese, preserved figs, sunflower seeds, red onion, and a balsamic dijon vinaigrette. Added grilled chicken for her. Decided to add another drink. Fresh watermelon lemonade. non-alcoholic Really enjoyable lunch and experience at the High Hat Cafe! Thank you, The Giaccones
Great place for Saturday Brunch after the art market across the street. I had the veg plate. Delicious and nice portions. Loved the options and tasty pO boys too. Classic New Orleans fare with a cool vibe.Recommended dishesBraised Greens, Mac & Cheese, Pimento Cheese
Unfortunately we do not have any good pics of the food... all pics were partway thru eating... but we tried a new place tonight - #HighHat. And everything- start to stop , top to bottom - was amazing. We ordered the boudin appetizer that came with toast tips, a stone mustard, and their own home made pickled cucumbers NOT to be confused with PICKLES. We then shared a Reuben & One Eyed Bacon Cheeseburger with their home made pickled okra, cole slaw and homemade fries. Every bite was spot on. The place itself was spotless. Every employee was welcoming, kind, and attentive. We even witnessed the hostess go outside onto the street to pick up litter from there. There was literally no suggestion we could make to improve food or service. We highly recommend trying them out the next time you're downtown.
The servers are nice, but the food has been disappointing. First visit, stool the food to go then threw it away. Second visit, breakfast food super disappointing. Waffle dry, hard & cold. And I can’t believe my son ate part of these burned pancakes. This is not your go to for quality foodDine in: YesOutdoor seating: NoTakeout: Yes
Really loved it all except the catfish. The red beans and rice were exceptional and the fired okra were my favorites along with the pimentocheese grits. I would recommend and I would go back.
