Hands down one of the most chill bar in Des Moines. Ryan our bartender was excellent, he’s a cool dude…very kind and hospitable and he makes the Best Green tea shots ever !! This place is a must to go visit and have a good time.
This is a really fun place to grab a bite to eat and a drink. The High Life Lounge is a great restaurant and I love that it is open until 11pm. My friend and I wanted to get a meal but most of the other places closed at 9pm or 10pm. It's nice that this place stays open so late. The atmosphere is really fun here. It can be loud though, so if you want a quiet dinner, maybe find a different place. The food was really good though! I really liked the sweet potatoe tater tots! I definitely recommend checking this place out!
As the name would suggest...this place is a tavern! And it's fantastic! Old school decor, look at the beers on tap...outstanding! Friendly staff and just blocks away from Principal Park
Loved this place. The staff was very helpful and courteous. The food is excellent. I had the broasted chicken - expensive but very tasty and juicy. If I'm in this area again, I will stop by.
Servers were VERY rude. A family member that was with us was saying hello to an old friend and accidentally got in the managers way and he literally screamed at her to move, what kind of a manager does that?? We had a large party as the whiskey festival was this day, My party was kicked out and told we wouldnt be served anymore for “being in the bar too long.” we were all a little tipsy but none of us were falling over, yelling, or making any type of scene. The first bit of our party showed up around 3 and the last bit came around 4:30-5 and we were kicked out at 7:30 -8 bc we were “at the bar way to long” really disapointing when you just spent so much money at an establishment for them to kick you out for giving them business. Well, we will never be going back here and do not recommend this place to anyone unless you wanna be yelled at and given attitude the whole time. The staff here needs to do better and be retrained in customer service.
There's nothing I don't love about this place. The food is FANTASTIC, probably top 3 places in all of Des Moines for good, home cooked American food! The service & atmosphere is always on point. I always love going & look forward to coming back.Food: 5/5
Love this place. Throwback to the Fifties. Feels like an old bowling alley lounge, but much cleaner. Great beer selection.
Broast chicken was a little dry, possibly cooked too long. Wife's meatloaf was excellent though.Food: 4/5
Came here for lunch as I was staying across the street at the Marriott. I had the broasted chicken. Being from Houston, I had never heard of it. But the waitress said it was pretty good so I thought I'd give it a try. It was easily some of the best chicken I've had. The food came out fast and the chicken was crispy and flavorful. I returned here 2 more times after my first visit just for the chicken. Delicious!!!!
As a loyal High Life drinker, I had to go here. Loved the ambiance of the place! Had the bacon wrapped tots and they did not disappoint! So, good I highly recommend! The bartender provided great service and an amazing recommendation for dinner. Will 100% be back when I am in town.
