I've been here a month ago, how have I not written a review for it yet? I found this place just wandering around in Manhattan, it's easy to spot, it's on a corner with lights and neon signs. This place feels like "fast food style" place but the food here is much better quality. The chicken here is well seasoned with the correct spices, it's juicy and flavorful. The staff here is very nice, they offered me the brand new batch of sides coming out instead of taking the one left in the trays. I would definitely come back here again.
The Counter staff here are very efficient and nice while it is very busy. I Got the Cuewich , Fried chicken with a fried onion and Barbecue sauce it was delicious. I can honestly say the lightly breaded chicken is pretty good quality for the price. The banana pudding pie itself wasn’t that great mostly because it’s overwhelmed by all the whip cream and the banana cream part isn’t that flavorful. The outer layer of crust was probably my favorite part of the pie. The biscuit that comes on the side can complete your meal. The store itself is very big with an upstairs and downstairs seating area.
We got the "Sunday Special" which was two breasts and Fry's for $10 bucks. The chicken was moist and tender and the fries were fresh. I will say coming from Texas I'm used to a little more seasoning on both but it was still very good. The biscuit while a little too dense for my liking was actually very tasty. If I'm ever in New York again I will be back!
Must go if you're into fried chicken dinners.. first of all this place has an amazing atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and welcoming; if you're not sure what to get they will know! The chicken is fried to perfection, and their coleslaw is a must have side dish.. Unfortunately, their biscuit was not buttery and rich as expected but maybe I was just unlucky All their sodas are artisanal.
This place has pretty good chicken. I had to get a chicken sandwich because they were all out of tenders. The chicken itself was moist and pretty tasty. Would have liked some selection a sauces mayonnaise or honey mustard other than ketchup. Fries were ok, a little overly oily for my taste. The drink, which was a fountain drink was a small cup for a regular. Something to keep in mind if getting it to go.
Decent fried chicken joint just steps from the shake shack that kicked off the revolution making unhealthy, fried comfort food societally acceptable for those that would never be caught dead in a KFC or McD. Ground floor dining area is nice but the downstairs game room has seen better days. The fussball table was broken, the floor dirty and be bathrooms disgusting.
Avoid this place at all cost! Way overpriced for garbage food. It tastes like it looks ... already eaten once by someone else. I was actually happy I made it to a table. The floor is so greasy I almost broke my neck slipping. This lunch cost me 17 dollars. A funny looking "sandwich" named wickedwich and a side of creamy cold slaw. The grilled chicken still had bones in ... so be aware I would say! The cole slaw was everything but creamy ... When I wanted to take a mayo cup out of their self service corner, my hands got all sticky due to open mayonnaise cups in the container, just disgusting. The only positive note was that my Blue Ribbon beer was cold enough to swallow away my sorrow!
We're from Texas screw you! The chicken and waffles is the way to go. You need to give them about 15 minutes to get it ready. Get a beer to wash it down. Take it down to the Grandma's basement and enjoy. You can play a board game, shoot some hoops or play foosball.
Wish I knew the servers name because he sure remembered mine! He pronounced it correctly dosen't always happen This place was clean, and had amazing service. They also cooked my chicken exactly as I wanted them. The menu was affordable. I got 2 thighs, a side of mash potatoes and 2 biscuits for $15.
Worst chicken I've had in a long time! I ordered mac and cheese and they gave me mashed potatoes. The chicken was tasteless, the drink size was small, the biscuit was dry and worst of all the price was ridiculous for the amount of food you get, $16!That was the first and last time I will ever go to Hill Country Chicken. I also will never recommend someone eat here.
