This place is a hidden gem. Allot of good people here. Feels more like a martial arts family once you get to know everyone and the instructors are all very experienced and have different styles of teaching keeping the experience fresh.
Updating my review after spending a little over a year here. I can say that this is probably the best gym I've trained at long-term over my 5 years of Muay Thai. I have improved the most here out of any other gym I've trained at, and the community is amazing. - Caters to all skill levels, very good coaching. - Many ways to become involved in competitions. Actively trains fighters to prepare for smokers and fights. - Very nice facility and friendly people -- come for a free trial to see for yourself. - Offers both Muay Thai and BJJ. Membership for both is just $20 more per month than membership for one.
This place has a great mix of BJJ gi & nogi classes, along with many muay classes at a variety of time slots. There's even a space to do some barbell/weight training. On top of all this, everyone is welcoming and nice. The trainers are also very knowledgeable and cool. Loving the vibe of this gym.
Hands down best Muay thai gym in NYC maybe even the only real muay thai gym in NYC! Coaches are great and varies in difficulty and technique. The culture and environment is also very warm and welcoming. There's always something new to learn each class. I love that I get to challenge and push my self further each time I show up; and the progress is very much evident from stamina to strength and even weight. I've tried several other kickboxing and boxing gyms in the city and this is by far the best when it comes to teaching actual muay thai techniques. They clean and sanitize after each class. The gym also has great facilities and fully stocked showers and clean locker rooms; the weights, treadmill, etc are available for use to members.
Trained here for six months before moving out of state and absolutely loved it. I went to both Muay Thai and BJJ classes. Muay Thai I've trained some Muay Thai for around 2 years total. Classes here usually consist of some warm-up jumping rope, running, etc., some pad work and technique, concluded by some ab workout planks, situps, etc.. Instructors have all actually fought before and are very knowledgeable. There's a strong focus on fundamentals. Folks are all friendly, and it's very beginner welcoming. BJJ I've trained BJJ for around 1.5 years total. Classes here typically have sometimes warmup, always drilling, sometimes positional sparring, and always full sparring. There's a great balance of Gi/No-gi classes. Content also is well mixed and includes standup, leglocks, and fundamentals plenty of BJJ places stay away from the former two. Again, all the BJJ folks are friendly and beginner welcoming. Misc The gym is very close to Court Square station. Cost is also reasonable compared to other gyms I've seen in the city. The place is also spotless - mats are cleaned frequently. I don't know of anyone who's gotten ring worm or anything here.
I’ve been training here for 6 months and the coaches, staff, and community are all amazing. If you’re on a weight loss journey, or on a journey to be a great fighter, this is the place you want to train. The personalized attention you’ll get from Coach Hinds and his team are second to none.
Loving the gym here! I've been looking for awhile to switch up my boring gym routine and couldn't have found a better place to do it. The instructors are knowledgeable, motivating, and fun. Thanks for opening up in Long Island City!
I was looking for something different from your normal gym and decided to give this place a try. It's fantastic, the staff is professional and very patient working with someone like me with no previous combat training. Working out is fun again!
I visited whilst staying in NY, i went sunday for their open mat and was warmly greeted by Dominyka - world champ marcelo garcia blackbelt. they have a big mat space, alcohol bowl for your feet before you step on to the mat. Warm friendly vibe and great rolls, i went both sundays i was in town and will visit again.
