The only reason this hotel even deserves one star is because of Angie and Barb who completely pieced our stay back together after we were greeted and checked in by one of their completely rude and disrespectful coworkers who demonstrated a complete lack of service and hospitality during check in and the entire rest of our stay. I've stayed in a Motel Six with better service than this property. This is a poor excuse for a Holiday Inn and an embarrassment as an IHG property. We were not aware prior to our stay there was a per person/per day charge for the water park which would have cost our family and additional $250 on top of the room rate. We were not notified of this in our confirmation letter and it was not listed on the website at our time of booking. I even showed the confirmation email to the guest service agent and her response was "they said they were supposed to add it". I also requested two cribs at the time of booking for our twin daughters and that was not on record at check in and the agents response was "I'll see if we have any". Thankfully they had two for us to use. There is not a daily cleaning service for the rooms, guests must request and change their own towels and set their trash in the hallway and request their own trash bags. The Burger Theory restaurant is a joke and a great way to pay $20 for a tough and tasteless hamburger served by someone with no patience for families or guests unless they are racking up their tab with alcohol. Parking is terrible and if guests arrive after about 8pm, good luck finding a place to park. If you are considering this property for your family, save yourself a few hundred bucks of what are typically complimentary amenities and book a Hilton property, or even a Quality Inn would provide better service and amenities than this Holiday Inn. If I could give Angie and Barb ten stars for their friendliness, courtesy, hospitality, respect, and compassion I would. The other staff, including the manager on duty were a terrible representation of the hospitality industry. If someone from IHG responds stating that "COVID" is the reason for this poor hospitality, that will be the absolute icing on the cake for this already, poor excuse for a hotel.
I had the opportunity to stay at this hotel on business recently and had a wonderful time. The arrival experience was outstanding and the agent was very informative, letting me know of the pool operations and upfront cost as well as the hours of operation of Burger Theory. This is a GREAT place to enjoy a fantastic meal. In fact, since it was so cold out, I didn't want to venture out so I ate 5 meals and each was unique although the burger was the best. The staff was friendly and the hotel had clearly undergone significant renovations in the past year. The location being directly across the street from CHI Health Center, Charles Schwab Field and all the downtown attractions was excellent! Highly recommend this hotel.
We booked a weekend at this hotel for a quick little getaway before our kids start school. 6 days before our arrival, our entire family came down with covid. I missed the cancellation cutoff by roughly 14 hours. I called asking if there was anyway I could avoid not being stuck with a fee & was told no. Not only is my family sick, I’m now stuck paying $195 to cancel a room 6 days in advance simply because the manager said no. I can understand if I cancelled the night before, but 6 days prior to check-in? Cool.
I’m a little shocked at all of the terrible reviews the hotel has been given recently because we had a great experience! Yes you have to pay extra for the parking, water park and breakfast but we were prepared after reading reviews. I do think the extra charge for the water park is absurd but we didn’t plan on using it. The parking free and no free breakfast is pretty typical for a hotel downtown in a big city. We were in town for a concert at the CHI center which was close enough to walk to and we felt comfortable doing so. Rooms were new, modern, spacious and comfortable! Check in was super quick and easy too.
I have stayed her numerous times when I'm in Omaha and travelling with the kids. This hotel was sold and the new management cares about one thing. MAKING MORE MONEY OFF YOU. They are now charging $20 per person for the pool, which is joke. That evening the chlorine was was to high and numerous people complaining. In the morning the water was freezing. Guessing they probably had to dilute the water because of the chlorine. They are working with a parking company to charge you $15 for parking. If the hotel is even near capacity there are not enough parking spots. We did have an issue with the room as the thermostat was broke and there on site maintenance could change out a simple thermostat. This was the first time have a room issue and was handled poorly by on site staff. Sad to see such a great hotel fall so far.
The Burger Theory Restaurant was a great service to this hotel, that’s the only reason it received 2 stars….. I have stayed at this hotel in the past and a whole lot has changed and not for the positive or good. The additional charges are ridiculous for the pool area. We are adults that want a hot tub to lounge in after a long day of driving and this hotel wants to charge an additional $20/person for hot tub use in addition to the room charge, just ridiculous. Also the restrooms on the main level have a code that is only given to you when asked, which is not convenient when you’re having dinner at the restaurant, then have to wait in line for the code from the front desk staff. The vending machines are ridiculous prices for a soda or anything else. The rooms look great, but the heating/air conditioning unit in our room was loud and obnoxious when running. Last but not least the staff we encountered weren’t friendly or welcoming. I will not be staying at this hotel in the future, this hotel will nickel and dime you for a mediocre stay. I like to post good reviews but unfortunately this hotel had way more negatives than positives
I will NEVER come back to this hotel. For almost $300 a night, one would assume entry to the water park would be included with your room, however, this was not the case. Upon arriving I was told that there would be an additional $20/person for access to the park. On top of a $15 parking fee if you wanted to park anywhere but on the street which would was extremely inconvenient when trying to bring things up to the room. I decided to move forward because there were children already on the way to attend my child’s slumber party. When we went to the park, the water was so full of chlorine we had to leave to rinse 2 of the attending children’s eyes. The room was subpar, with very few accommodations for a room designed for 6 people. When I went to contact the front desk, there was no phone in the room. I had to use a common phone on the floor by the elevators which was filthy. Stained with brown spots and other unknown substances. I was told they had to “look for a phone to bring to the room”. When we did receive the phone, it was just as dirty as the phone in hallway. Out of three outlets in the room only one halfway worked. To use it We had to take it out of the jack and plug it back in, hurrying to make a phone call before the jack stopped working again. I was able to try and move past this terrible and overly priced experience until I discovered I was charged twice by the hotel. This is unacceptable and has been a headache since check in. Please do not waste your money. It’s not with the headache. HIGHLY UNRECOMMENDED
My wife and I arrived around 1030 pm with our 6 and 8 year old. When we walked to the front counter to check in the women was on the phone with another employee trying to fix some type of internal system issue. She acknowledged us but then spent 10-15 minutes working on the issue while we just stood there staring at her. She apologized but it was unacceptable, she should have just paused what she was doing and checked us in. The room was not totally ready. We ended up going down to the front desk 3 different times. The room had only 2 towels 2 king beds and 2 single beds, no soap at the sink or in the shower and there were not enough pillows for the beds. I question if all the did to turn over the room was take the dirty towels and make the beds. The next morning we decided to make it easy and just eat at the hotels breakfast buffet. Overall the food is what you would expect. All of it seemed like it had been out too long and was on the lukewarm to cold side. The floor all around the buffet was incredibly sticky and you could hear everyone's shoes sticking to the floor and peeling off as they walked. I grabbed a plate to get food and there were scrambled eggs stuck to the bottom of the plate. I'd skip eating at the hotel. If the buffet was dirty, I'd imagine the kitchen is worse The water park was the highlight for the kids and really the only saving grace for the hotel. There is a single large slide, a small play ground area for little kids to play, a good sized hot tub and a pool. It cost $20 per person per day to use the water park, but was worth it since the room was only $100 a night. If this hotel was more expensive I definitely would have given it a worse score. But for the price, I got what I expected. Nearby activities: The hotel is just 2 blocks from Charles Schwab Field.
