We were in Hawaii for our honeymoon and had the most amazing experience on the sunset cruise. The atmosphere and the crew were a lot of fun. We enjoyed talking to other passengers and even found someone who lived near us. This was my first catamaran ride and I loved every second of it. The catamaran was clean and well taken care of. A great time from beginning to end.
We had a great time at the turtle canyon morning snorkel tour. The crew was super friendly and helpful and it was very safe, even you had never snorkeled before you could enjoy this. We saw half a dozen different turtles, surfacing and all. Awesome experience.
My husband, 14 year old daughter and I booked the Turtle Canyon snorkel sail. It was one of our favorite activities we did while visiting Oahu. I had never been in the ocean before and am pretty fearful of water. Upon jumping in I immediately freaked out and climbed back aboard. Took a couple minutes to calm down and attempted again. I ended up doing ok, I decided against the fins on the second attempt and I felt more in control of my body which helped. A staff member kept a close eye on me in the water which I really appreciated and made me feel more at ease. In the end I really enjoyed the trip and am so glad I made myself do it. My husband and daughter enjoyed it so much they didn’t want to get back on the boat and were last to get back on board. We saw so many fish and turtles it was incredible! The turtles kept coming right up to me and I would need to move back to keep distance. Another staff member went down and brought up a sea urchin for us to hold. All of the staff were wonderful and helpful to others that were sea sick. I would definitely go again! Bring a underwater camera!
We had an amazing time on the sunset cruise with the Holokai team! I cannot express enough how worthwhile taking a catamaran ride was for our family. Even my 16 year old loved it, and she is super hard to please...LOL! Easy to book, offered a military discount, and the boat crew was great at their jobs and tons of fun. We even made a few new friends along the way. Oh, and the views were amazing. We will book again on our next trip to the islands. Highly recommend!
We were looking for a snorkeling activity to do during our stay in Waikiki and stumbled upon Holokai Catamaran during our Google search. We did the Turtle Canyon Snorkel Sail and had a great time! All of the crew onboard were super friendly and professional. We got to see lots of turtles and fish while snorkeling in the ocean. After snorkeling, there was a boat ride where you could see pretty views of the Oahu coast. We didn't see any dolphins or whales during our boat ride but it was still worth it!
Pick a nice sunny day and sail away. The staff is extremely friendly, the drinks are good, and the sunsets are unlike any you’ll see on the island. Bring cash for tipping the bartender. If it’s a windy day, take a Dramamine and bring a light jacket.
We found this cruise after looking for a sunset cruise that had an open bar with great reviews. We actually booked this cruise online on their website the same day and there was still availability. For the sunset cruise, you check in at 4:30pm at their storefront in the outdoor mall. It is on the second floor and there is a little stand outside their doors to check in. The employee was friendly and checked off our name and instructed us to wait in the area until they were ready to walk over. They also validate your parking at this time if needed. However we were staying in Waikiki so it was only about a 10 minute walk for us. At about 4:45pm we all paraded together with 2 employees over to board the catamaran, it was probably a 5 minute walk through the mall and across the street to the beach. There were around 40 of us in the group. However once we boarded the boat there was enough room for everyone to spread out. The catamaran was beached outside the outrigger reef hotel waiting for us and the other 2 crew members helped us walk up the steps. It is a barefoot boat so you take off your shoes before your board. Once onboard, there are some cubbies by the seats that you can put your things in. It was fun passing by the surfers as we headed out. The bartender/crewmate was super friendly and gave out good vibes. The captain was also friendly and took song requests to play over the speakers. They had 3 different kona beers, bud light, some wine, a champagne, sodas, and then the premade drink which was like a rum and pineapple orange guave juice POG juice. We set sail exactly at 5pm. Once everyone had their first round, the 2 crew members hoisted the sails and we were off. You can move around however you like. There is a lot of seating in the middle of the boat. Most people stood along the rails on the side. There are two nets up front that you can sit in, however you do get splashed quite a bit up there. You can also sit/stand at the back of the boat where the stairs are, which is where they recommended you sit if you get sea sick/motion sick. You sail up and down the coastline of Waikiki. You get great views of the beaches, hotels, and Diamond Head. The vibes are great with the music playing, the sun setting, the windy blowing, the views, and the drinks. The day we went was quite windy so the ocean was very choppy on the way out as we were going against the wind. You definitely had to hold onto the rails if you were standing up or walking to get another drink. A few people did get sea sick, but the crewmate was extremely helpful and gave them water, told them to sit out the back, and offered them lavender oil to sniff. He also was able to wash the deck if needed. He also checked on them throughout to make sure they were okay. If you prone to any kind of sea sickness, I would not recommend this trip unfortunately, as it is just the nature of the beast of a catamaran on the ocean. Tipping is at your discretion since it is open bar. On our cruise the Kona IPA ran out super quick, so if you are interested be sure to get yours in the first half of the sailing. Exactly at 5:45pm we turned around and headed back, this was a little bit smoother as we were now going with the wind. We got to see the sun set around 6pm ish, and then we headed back along the coastline to where we started. It was cool to see the night lights starting to come on in the city. We arrived back exactly at 6:30pm, so it was exactly 90 minutes that we were sailing. The crew helped us off the boat back onto the beach, and we were set free there. Most everyone walked to the showers to rinse off their feet. Overall I would recommend this excursion as it is one of the only sunset cruises with an open bar, and one that lasted the longest at 90 minutes. Sure it is a little pricey for what it is, but it is in line with similar excursions in the area. The crew was very friendly and welcoming and it was a neat experience to be sailing on the ocean for a beautiful sunset and a beautiful night.
We did the Tradewind Sail, Ryan and Chris are excellent host, very nice family experience. Chris took lovely pictures of us. We saw sea turtles our way back. We thought the price was fair.
Sunset cruise! Great staff. Right on time. Great drinks and beautiful views. Goes right past Diamond Head. Cool view of the cityscape.
Sunset cruise was amazing. Felt like we were out there forever. Crew was fun and accommodating. Would book with them again.
