Story

For more than 75 years, Hellenic College Holy Cross has educated bishops, priests, deacons, theologians, and lay leaders to serve the Orthodox Church and society. Men and women who attend HCHC enter into a warm community centered on faith, education, and service. Students in this learning environment focus on intense theological and professional studies while growing spiritually and personally—developing relationships that will last a lifetime.

Hellenic College, the premier fully accredited, four-year, Orthodox Christian college in America, is committed to helping students grow intellectually, morally, and spiritually. Professors know students by name and guide them through an education informed by classical models, preparing them to meet the challenges of the workplace.

Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology is centered on the Trinitarian faith as revealed by Jesus Christ and as preserved in its fullness, genius, and integrity by the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. The school embodies the historic and specific educational mission of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople through the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.

Students learn to articulate and understand the biblical, historical, dogmatic, ethical, and liturgical traditions of the Orthodox Church. They prepare to become future clergy and lay leaders of the Orthodox Church who demonstrate faith, sensitivity, and compassion. They cultivate a disposition toward offering a service of truth and love in the world.

Mission

The mission of Hellenic College Holy Cross is the formation and the education of the person within the life of an Orthodox Christian community. To that end, it educates men preparing for the holy priesthood of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese and other Orthodox Christian entities, as well as men and women for leadership roles in Church, chosen professions, and society. HCHC collaborates with Orthodox Church–affiliated institutions and ministries, and offers opportunities for lifelong learning.
