Beautiful cathedral in the heart of Birmingham.
A beautiful Greek Orthodox Church with very friendly members. A friend and I attended one morning to better understand the orthodox faith and it's practitioners. Being Baptist, it was a very different style of worship for me with large portions spoken in Greek. The members near us were happy to have us there, showed us where to read and when to respond during the service, and spoke to us afterwards to find out about us. The prayer books have Greek pronunciation guides and English translations. This church also hosts an extremely popular Greek food festival in the fall, and it is a true Birmingham highlight. I've always attended that for years, but it was great to get to know the people and faith behind it.
Beautiful church. Conducted several funeral services there. Cannot wait until the Greek Festival in October.
We use Cathedral Daycare. It is very clean and the workers are loving. I especially appreciate the tight ship that Catherine Sissa runs. I do not have to worry about the safety of this daycare because it is on lockdown. If Catherine doesn’t recognize someone for child pickup, she’s not afraid to call them out for some identification. They have a doorman, and it’s hard to get buzzed into the building if he’s not there. You are viewed on the camera and have to state who you are picking up to gain entrance. I do appreciate no one can just walk in anytime. There is a process to getting accepted, so don’t expect just to walk in and sign your child up. You must first call, then there is a mailed packet you must read, then a scheduled walk through with the director, signing up for the waiting list, and then being accepted. They are interviewing you just as much as you are interviewing them. I prayed a long time for a good daycare, and this is it! I hope this review helps someone. God bless.

The yearly greek festival is the best food festival in town. Delicious food in generous sizes and super friendly people, with great entertainment while you eat. The lines can be long, but it's completely worth it. Make sure not to miss the coffee and loukemedes in the parking area!
They welcome the community each year in early October for a festival of Greek food and culture. There is delicious food hand-prepared by members of the Greek Orthodox Church. You can tour the beautiful cathedral and eat indoors listening to live Greek music or dine outside. Within walking distance to world renowned UAB hospital. If you are spending time in the area because a loved one is at UAB you don’t have to spend all your time at the hospital or in a hotel-explore the surrounding area and this beautiful church, and in October chill out with something different and delicious!
Picked up 5+ plates from Greek week so I didn't actually go into the church but it was beautiful from the outside. The food was terrific. Will see them again next year!
Please come and see. It is wonderful and spirituality uplifting!
Tried to get information about the daycare. Director did not have time to provide me with proper information. She did have time to go outside once she thought I was gone.
