Home Sweet Homebrew is an excellent little brew shop located in Center City. The husband and wife owners are incredibly friendly and helpful. They are always happy to help, no matter how noob the question. It is a small shop, but they pack a lot in. You can buy all grain, extract, or pre-made kits, some of which are clones of local beers. They also exchange Co2 tanks and have a wide variety of hops, yeast, and grains. Great place for starters and veterans alike.
The owner is incredibly helpful, personable, and knowledgeable. I do not understand all these negative reviews. His prices are very fair and the selection is great for the small space the store is in. Also there are very nice store cats, so if you are allergic to cats I wouldn't recommend going there. That's the only problem I foresee.
George and Nancy are extremely knowledgeable. Most of my dealings Have been with George. While others appear to be offended by Him......he is genuine. This is his world and with his wealth of knowledge...... I feel he deserves a modicum of respect. Sum up: he’s bailed me out of some problems........ and passed on some amount of his wisdom. Thanks George!
This place is fantastic. George and Nancy are incredibly friendly and helpful and the supplies are fresh. I will never buy ingredients or gear online if I know I can get them at Home Sweet Homebrew.
This store sold me 10 month old yeast that didn’t activate. When I asked to get a new package the store keeper told me I had to get to the store by 6 when he closed. I asked him if he could stay open an extra 5 minutes to ensure I would be there. He told me no, he’d be there until 6. I told him I was on my way, please stay open. I arrived at 5:58 to a closed store. Bad product—gone bad, even worse service.
George is great, a dedicated expert brewermaster, but he doesn't suffer fools gladly. Beware. I've always had great experiences with his products and advice.
Home Sweet Homebrew has always been a great place to go get supplies and advice on brewing. The couple who runs it are very experienced and helpful, for newcomers and experts alike.
Homey and honest, the owner is very helpful and has a great selection of brewing supplies. A little dusty, but that's because they grind grains in store!! Really cool place
George and Nancy are the best. Always nice and super helpful, they never mind when I ask a hundred questions. I started brewing 6 years ago and I never needed to go anywhere else.
Just what you want from a Homebrew store. The owner is sarcastic and very helpful. Just ask to try some of the grains for the flavor profile you're looking for. Only downside is that the store appears somewhat disorganized, but this does not affect finding anything whatsoever.
