First stay at this hotel so sharing my experience. Pros: Good location. Newer building. Functional rooms with good shower. Friendly and helpful staff. Cons: Pet hair - if you have dog or cat allergies…beware. Upon arrival our room was covered with cat or dog hair, including floor and bedspread. Was apparent that the room hadn’t been cleaned, dusted or vacuumed for many days. I understand this is a pet-friendly hotel, but at least clean the room after the pet owners depart, or block off a few rooms for customers who have pet allergies. Breakfast - Was told there was a complimentary cook to order breakfast but I was charged $20 for it. Cleaning - If you want room cleaned you have to request it each day. Why are hotels ditching what used to be a daily service? Bar - Was told there was a daily evening social hour or something similar. Assumed the hotel would provide complimentary beer and wine like the Embassy Suites, but nothing was complimentary . Seems the bar was out of stock of many items. Bartender didn’t even have the ingredients to make a simple strawberry daiquiri. Parking - Was charged $15 for daily parking but parking spaces are limited on the property. You may have to park in nearby areas. Overall, a subpar experience at this Hilton facility.
I would recommend this place for vacationers on a budget. The kitchen area was pretty neat but not super relevant for a business traveler. The first floor is a bit loud and I was staying near one of the side exits. They have a store which was very helpful when I arrived too late to get food. The continental breakfast is a plus mostly for meat eaters and those without a strict diet. It was a pretty alright stay just would recommend for those on vacation and not on a business trip.
The room was clean and pretty newly renovated. The staff here was amazing! We had a very late check in because of a family emergency and the staff went out of their way to make our stay easy!Rooms: 4/5
The 8. Rating should not fool you. The are over priced, their services do not match. The rooms were clean, it was quiet through out and the checking in and out was smooth. However, they need new bedsheets, those that were on the bed were old. We didn't have shower gel and the front desk couldn't provide because they ran out!! Breakfast was a joke!!!! Nothing stands out.
My partner is a Dimond member and I normally get treated really well but it this was my second time staying at a Hilton garden in. The level of customer service just isn't the same. House keep bust thru my door with out knocking twice. They lied and Saud they called me twice but TBD phone never rang Threatening to charge me a late charge for 9mins. As a minority I would have thought the minority staff would have treated me better. I would encourage training from management down .. Elevators wer dirty and they made me feel like a second class person. I don't want to book Hilton garden inns. The customer service felt ghetto. The young black girl from front desk with the braids was the most pleasant! Gave me a great food recommendation. She is why it's more than one star.
Last night after a 3 hr drive back to hotel from Nashville I had a problem with my trailer lift. It forced me to ask the front desk clerk if he could help with a standard car jack. He went to his truck and had a jack ready when i came back down a 2:15AM. Great job!!Rooms: 4/5
I was so impressed with the staff at Home2Suites downtown Birmingham. Everyone was welcoming and spoke to you when you saw them. Didn’t matter who the employee was— the asked if you needed anything and always with a smile. My room was very nice, clean and spacious and was awesome for me to work. I loved that we had a refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher and sink. This made it easy for my husband and I who have strict dietary needs. The amenities were very nice and the hotel is kept very clean. I will definitely stay here again! I want to especially thank the young lady at the front desk who checked my family and I in earlier in the morning. She really went the extra mile and I appreciate her for this. It was 8:15 am in the morning - you rock! Great job!
Very nice hotel near UAB hospital and several restaurants. The suites are roomy and clean. They feature a kitchenette with a mid size refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave and sink. There's a sitting area with a small sofa and desk. The beds are on the far end of the room. Plenty of storage throughout the room. These are a great choice for an extended stay. The hotel also has a terrific grilling area with gas grills, a pool, a bar, a restaurant, and a fitness center. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Clean rooms, great service, convenient location. Pam the housekeeper was very nice and accommodating.
