Located in a souvenir shop, Abe's is a little Vietnamese cafe downtown. The hours are different from the shop so double-check before you go. I ordered a Tofu Bahn Mi and it was really good! I love that you can choose a sauce at the end. I picked peanut and it was fabulous! There are a number of seating options and due to it's semi hidden nature, it was pretty quiet when I went during lunch. You can use Ritual to order ahead. The sandwich was about $10.
This place is a wonderful mix of Americana, gift shop, and delicious Vietnamese food. The food is very good on its own but the sauces over by the soda fountains are also wonderful if you're looking for complimentary flavors. This place is certainly worth a visit!
Holy goodness the tofu banh mi was good! Super flavorful marinade and great texture. Friendly service. Clean and quiet space.
Fast food style cafe servicing Vietnamese and western food. Guess what, the Asian food turned out to be surprisingly authentic in fast food style! There's also a gift shop attached to it.
Pork banh mi was a generous size, nicely toasted bread with decent marinated veggies. No pate but still tasty.
Basement level tourist gift shop that sells the tacky stuff. They even had Laura Bush merch still, kinda odd. If you need a quick "I was there" knickknack it's only a little overpriced
NOTE: We could not find the café to order the Vietnamese food we went to find and the employee w asked said it was no more. They did have a huge selection of souvenirs, anything you might be interested it, just wished the café had made it thru Covid. Sadly many local mom and pop places are still closing. Support the moms and pops when possible so we don't loose those unique treasures.
Shout out to my man who got the good Pho cooking for me. I'm sick man. Ain't supposed to go on till 11. But he saw how sick I am!! My man. I'll be back!
Fantastic service, terrific staff and very reasonable prices. Can handle large school groups and, you can make an appointment! Decent selection of DC items!
I come here often especially on a rainy day because it's located in my building, so it's very convenient. I usually order Banh Mi. I've had the Pork, Beef, and Chicken, and my favorite is the Pork Banh Mi with Sweet Chili Sauce. The good: It's freshly made, and pretty flavorful with the pickled radishes, cilantro, and jalapenos. I enjoy dipping it with the sweet chili sauce for extra flavor and spice. The bad: The bread could be better, and wish they would use baguette instead of the bread they currently use. Overall, I enjoy coming here since it's convenient and the food is delicious.
