Hoops Sports Bar & Grill

We went to Hoops last night for dinner (a Tuesday) before the Raptor game. Open the menu placed in front of us and it said "Tuesday - Half price wings". Perfect, 4 of us ordered 5 pounds of wings ($18/lb). Wings were good, get our bill, charged full price. Asked the waitress who goes to her manager and says that the deal is not valid on "Event nights". We argue that it doesn't say that on the menu (also, what qualifies as an event in Downtown Toronto? there's always stuff going on) Anyways, manager tells the waitress that it states it on the website. Ugh, really? We have to check websites now? Anyways, wings were good, waitress was great, management is questionable. When we asked to speak directly to the manager, he obviously wasn't interested and gave us the discount. I've posted a pic of the menu we looked at. It's just the principle of the situation.

Good food. Was busy at lunch and service staff was busy but could see that they were working hard to catch up. No major complaints from me here! I liked the portions. I would eat here regularly!

Went there Wednesday night, right before a Leafs game so we didn’t have high expectations to begin with. My beer got “lost”. After two check-ins from the waitress, it eventually arrived with our food. The nicest thing I could say about the buffalo wrap was that it was bland. I would have loved to let the waitress know, maybe get some hot sauce to liven it up, but for the first time in my life, the waitress never came to check-in on us once the food arrived. Conveniently located, definitely. But if you want a satisfying meal and good service, go somewhere else.

It takes a lot for me to write a poor review, because I like to find the good in a situation.  When we sat down at 4:30ish, we heard another patron voicing concerns over challenges with the meal and wrote it off as a difficult customer or an anomaly.  We ordered our drinks and meals and while waiting, the music was turned on....very loudly. We requested it be turned down to which our waitress attempted to assist. Shortly after, the music was turned up again, uncomfortablely loud. Worse than the loud music was the vulgar, inappropriate language in the music. I am not offended but this is not the time or the place for this type of music.  We received our beer which was cool at best. Although disappointed, we drank it. Our meal came and was not hot and all. With everything being less than impressive, we just wanted to leave and worked hard to finish and leave.  On a positive note, our waitress was friendly and tried to accommodate our concerns.

My boyfriend and I just came here to grab a drink. It was boiling outside so we stopped randomly here after walking by the boardwalk. We went on a sunday and it was VERY much dead. Obviously, it's a sunday. It's a pub vibe and a great spot to just chill. Our server was very nice, we stayed for about an hr and a half with just one drink each and she came to check up on us a good amount. Didn't get to try the food, maybe next time.
