My wife and I did the Glassblowing Workshop for Two and were blown away pun intended! Samuel was our instructor and he was absolutely great. He was easy to talk to, you could ask him questions, and most importantly he let us actually do a lot. He allowed us, within reason of course, to do as much of the work as we were comfortable with which was amazing. We each made a paperweight, and my wife made a vase while I made a bowl. I would definitely recommend going to Hot Shops Crystal Forge, to be precise to have some fun and come away with something really cool and unique. I'll definitely be scheduling something with Samuel in the future.
Beautiful glass art and great people. Very interesting way of making decorative pieces with a torch as well. My wife got me a class with Vickie and it was very interesting, i had a blast learning how it all came together. Thank you for the opportunity, highly recommend if ever in Omaha
First time here, lovely place, love all the different art and artists. My son found items to give the grandparents for Christmas and I found earrings. Really liked the different demonstrations from different artists.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Wow! It's like an art museum, art show, art sale and art studio all in one. There is such a variety of artwork going on and a delightful eyeful of art everywhere we looked. The people are inviting and friendly showing off their work while creating more. We talked to a variety of artists and had a fun time wandering 3 floors of interesting art.
Very neat display of multimedia arts and different forms. Fun to meander through though we only made the 1st floor. The glass shop was phenomenal and Vicki was super helpful and fun to talk to.
Went in and so many friendly people. One man wanted to show me how to work with glass because I told him I was interested in it. I bought on of his let glass frogs. This is an awesome place to visit in Omaha. Definitely a place to go just for fun and watch people create masterpieces. I can’t wait to go back. Definitely a gem.
I'm nearing the end of my four-week Pottery: Beginning Throwing course with Rob Johnson, and I can't wait to keep practicing beyond my class! Our instructor has done a wonderful job of letting us get comfortable with a new medium while providing necessary feedback and detailed explanations in a kind, knowledgeable way. I was worried the class might be too overwhelming or overstimulating for me, but the studio isn't overly lit with florescent lights, and we get a lot of quiet time to focus. I'll be even more obsessed with Hot Shops once they, hopefully, get enough funds raised for an elevator. I'm beyond satisfied with my experience, and I can't wait to get signed up for independent study!
Stopped in for the Spring Open House and had a blast! It's so cool how all the studio spaces are different. I loved seeing all the art and meeting the artists.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$1–5
The talent in this building is unmatched. There are so many things to see. It’s a must visit. The blown glass gets lots of attention. Don’t pass up an open bay. You may get a glimpse of some amazing wooden carved sculptors, photography, paintings, and so much more. Bring your wallet, as you’ll want to take some of these gems home, to call them your own!
Hot Shops is a delightful mix of artists' studios, a hot shop, gallery and a large room that was set up for four areas with torches where groups learned new techniques in bead making. I also came back for a session to blow my own glass pumpkin! Vicki my instructor was marvelous. The cost was $75. Highly recommend. Wonder around and see the art or sign up for one of their activities.
