I have never once had a bad experience here. I have been getting guitars set up here for over five years & the same friendly staff greets me. If they retain their staff, it is a good place to work. They’re running an honest business & it shows. You can try the chain stores, but the customer experience at House of Guitars is going to surpass the chain stores by a mile. Sure, the inventory is not as wide, but they’re selling quality. Whenever I purchase a guitar, I ALWAYS take it to House of Guitars to be professionally set up. Best place in Salt Lake, Utah, and the West!
These guys are amazing. They gave me some great advice on some setups and did a great workup on my older guitar. It sounds so superb now. Not only that, they jumped my car when the battery died in front of the shop. Really professional and friendly service. Thanks again guys! Really appreciate you! :
Kyle was very helpful, he repaired my guitar for free within 20 minutes, helping to solder the output cable connection and tighten one of the tuning on-off switches. I appreciate an honest local business like House of Guitars, I ended buying a nice Ernie Ball output cable for a good price as well. Will recommend to all my guitar gear head friends and musicians.
Friendly and helpful staff. They have an amp and pedal repair guy, how cool is that!? I have an old Mesa V-Twin pedal where the level gain knob on the back had broken. They had it fixed up in a little over a week for a very reasonable fee. I almost gave it away because I thought for sure it was some specialty Mesa issue, glad I didn’t!
Sean and the guys at house and guitars are awesome. I bought several pieces of music equipment from them, and they've serviced several of my guitars. Their service blows away guitar center, and they're my go-to guys. They even offer layaway and a pawn service should you need it. Also they're willingness to work with you is incredible, about a Jackson performer several years ago for about $400, and a year later they gave me $300 plus on a trade in / upgrade. Couldn't ask for a better guitar shop, and I've been doing for over 40 years. Thanks again Sean keep up the good work.
I’ve never purchased a guitar here but have had amps repaired here several times. They do a great job. efficient and communicative. Nice guys.
I always try to visit this store when in town. They always seem to have something really cool in the store. I found a cool pedal in the store that I snatched up because it was in a different finish then I’ve seen before. I was a little surprised that they didn’t ask if I wanted to hear it at first. Hahaha. I just took their word in it if it worked. I’ve bought plenty on line taking the chance it would work. Either way. I like to give small shops some business. On a sour note there was a condescending stock boy/string changer that felt it was cool to kind of berate my buddy for the band he is playing in because he was wearing a Supro hat. Yeah. You know who you are. How successful are you?! How’s your career going?! Nice. Really turned off the guys and they love to spend money. Anyway. Still love the store. See ya next time.
This is my music school's go-to for both tube and solid state amplifier repair, amplifier purchases, as well as acoustic and electric guitar, bass, ukulele purchases. Friendly, local owned and very competitive pricing. They have a huge selection of Teton guitars and ukuleles, as well a fantastic trade-in and upgrade services!
Wow, the next time I am looking for a new guitar I am definitely coming to this place first, just based on the experience I had here 2 days ago. I needed to purchase a truss rod wrench immediately for my classical Cordoba guitar, and called House of Guitars to see if they had the size I needed. I was told that they did, so I went right over to buy one. The one that they offered for me to purchase ended up being too short for me to use, and they said those were the only ones they typically had. They could tell that I was disappointed and really needed something ASAP, so they started going through cabinets, desks, and drawers to see if they just happened to have any longer ones hidden away. They found a couple that looked like the right size, but then actually measured them each to ensure that they were giving me exactly what I needed. I felt like they really cared about what I was walking out with, which is very rare in my experience in any sort of retail establishment. And THEN when they confirmed the size, I pulled out my wallet to pay, and they refused to have me pay for the wrench! Told me to just see if it worked and to let them know if it did or not and if not, they would get me something different. My mind was blown - a shop NOT doing whatever they could to make some money? Since when? Today, two days later, I remembered that I never touched base with them, so I called to let them know that the wrench worked. I asked how I could pay for it and was again told to not worry about it and they just cared that I got what I needed. The wrench itself may only cost a few bucks and isn't a huge deal to anyone's wallet, but the level of care that even this small interaction showed me really speaks volumes about the people running and working this establishment. I don't live in SLC full-time, and since I was having trouble finding a suitable wrench, I wouldn't have been able to play my guitar during this whole week-long trip here if these guys hadn't have helped me. Thanks, y'all! I'll be back to throw money at you soon.
I highly recommend this local guitar shop. The owner is friendly, knowledgeable and not pushy. I appreciated my time there and walked out with a beautiful guitar. Thank you very much.
