Beginning to end the worst experience with a primary care physician I have ever had. This whole ordeal is over a two month process. 1. The clinic itself is not clean. Dirt and grime everywhere. 2. Doctor required me to have a follow up appointment, instead of just sending me my results. Only had bloodwork done. 3. No platform for telehealth. Instead, the doctor called me on my cell phone. Called 45 minutes later than the appointment. 4. During follow up appointment, it was apparent the doctor forgot she had this scheduled. Didn't have my chart pulled up. She was learning how my bloodwork was as she told me. 45 minutes late, 2 minute phone call, $80. 5. Called four times to receive my results on paper for my records. Each time I was hung up on. Finally went into the hospital. The Howard Medical Records department is currently closed, so they are outsourcing the service. 6. Got my records in the mail today. They mailed them... ON A CD. Don't mind me, I will just be going to the public library to use a CD drive to finally get my records. Listen, I don't know the complexities of how healthcare works. But from beginning to end it was apparent this place is poorly run. I went because of proximity to my apartment, but won't do that again. They are supposed to be providing services to the community but those with the misfortune of relying on Howard Family Health are at a disservice. Go somewhere else if you can.
The visit was the worst experience for a 10 year old young lady seeking medical attention. This place should be shut down, renovated and with all new staff who know how to treat patients seeking medical attention. How do you have a patient wait over an hour for the doctor? How do you have staff say "well you shouldn't expect to be seen at the time of appointment anyway", and the doctor not know she has patients scheduled? Why robocall me to confirm the appointment if you can keep up on your end. I'll never subject my child to this bad experience again. I rated only 1 star because I couldn't rate NO STARS. It deserves to have the Medical Association pay a visit as a mystery shopper. Hmm, that's an idea.
Insurance Update/Walk-in took 30mins to be seen yesterday. Another walk-in was confused why others that came in after her was going ahead of her. I can’t make this up. She said, who decides that you or the doctor? Then said, but I was here first. Ok, so it needed to be explained to her that appointment will go first because they’re scheduled. Let just say the staff is ready and willing to answer you may have and help you fill out forms if needed. The entire staff is great. Love you guys! Keep up the great work!
My visit was traumatizing to say the least. Staff was not knowledgeable, forgot to do routine procedures, 'offices' were unkempt and in disarray, equipment didn't work, young 'doctors' walked around in Howard University t-shirts, only one unisex restroom for physicians and patients, didn't have adequate amount of chairs for the 'waiting room', and equipment was old and weathered. My doctorJoseph Dubery couldn't answer basic questionsGoogle searched for answers to my questions, forgot to write a prescription for high blood pressure medicine that he suggested I desperately neededHad told me to remind him because he hadn't had a pen or pad to write it down, printed off stacks of resources for me not stapled or paper clipped and said, "See you in two weeks." Not to mention, the EKG that he requested for me was not workinga blood pressure machine was not working either and so he had someone write down the number for the Cardiology department upstairs for me to to call and set an appointment with them to use their EKG! I can't make this stuff up. Another practitioner in her Howard t-shirt, took me into a room to have blood drawn, withdrew the needle and blood shot out all over my arm and her response was, "Oh! You bleed a lot!."Never has this ever happened during a doctor's visit On top of that, she tried sending me on my way just for me to remind her that I was supposed to have a urine test done. I'm not sure how Howard University can legally provide medical/health services to individuals.Prohibited to have cell phones or else I'd have had plenty of photos to show how I was bandaged up after having blood drawn and the uncleanliness of the offices. I am beyond disappointed and will never return here and I'd advise others to steer clear of this place.
I CAME TO THE HOSPITAL LAST NIGHT APRIL 5, 2019 AT 9PM, FOR A SICKLE CELL CRISIS, ADMITTING DIDN'T TAKE LONG, BUT WHEN I WAS TAKEN TO THE BACK, I SAT ABOUT ONE AND A HALF HOURS BEFORE I WAS PUT INTO A ROOM TO BE SEEN. BUT WHILE I WAS WAITING, THE MEDICAL STAFF WAS VERY LOUD, AND SPOKE ABOUT EVERYTHING, FROM ASKING HOW TALL THEY WERE TO TALKING ABOUT HOW THEY DIDN'T WANT TO WORK WITH A CO WORKER. THE CURSING WAS RIDICULOUS, YOU WOULD THINK THAT YOU WERE IN A CLUB, INSTEAD OF A HOSPITAL. TWO OF THE STAFFS WENT AS FAR AS TO TALK ABOUT WHO WAS WHITE AND WHO FATHER WAS BLACK. IF THERE WAS A SUPERVISOR ON DUTY LAST NIGHT MAYBE THEY WERE AFRAID TO CORRECT THE STAFFS. FOR THIS TO BE A WELL KNOWN ESTABLISHMENT THE STAFFS NEED TO BE RETRAINED, AND LEARN HOW TO GIVE RESPECT TO THE PATIENTS FIRST, THEN TO ONE ANOTHER. AFTER BEING PUT INTO A ROOM, I WAS STUCK 10 TIME BY RUSHING TECHS. BECAUSE IT WAS TIME FOR THEM TO CLOCK OUT. I SUFFERED FROM ABOUT 10:45,P UNTIL AFTER 2AM PLUS THE LEAVING STAFFS LEFT BLOODIED PADS ON THE FLOOR AND TABLE. HOWARD UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL HAS FALLEN WAY DOWN FROM WHAT IT WAS IN EARLIER YEARS. THE DOCTOR'S WERE GREAT!
They need to work on their patient waiting time and their phone skills some of them when it comes to answering the phone they are very unprofessional.
