I’m a foster for the HRA and I’ve never encountered a shelter that cares more for their pets and makes the adoption process that seamless. All the animals I’ve fostered have been in great health, received phenomenal care, and had a wealth of resources to help them live their best lives.

Adopted my dog from the DC Rescue Alliance and couldn't have more positive things to say about the staff and volunteers. They helped me throughout the whole process and gave me and my girlfriend a new family member. I'm grateful for the DC Humane Rescue Alliance for making my life so much better.

Great organization, they really care. We got my first dog from there for a stay-cation and he was amazing. It really helped me warm up to dogs. I highly recommend that you foster/adopt from them.

I adopted my wonderful kitty at HRA and have done a bit of volunteering there several years back. My cat picked me; she tapped her paw on me and that was that. Pretty little special tabby has been with me since 2019. She is even a great traveler in cars and airplanes! If you’re over 50, you can adopt a 5+ year old cat for free I think that’s what I did…

The humane rescue alliance staff was very professional and helpful when my walker lost my dog in the city. They assured me that most lost dogs are returned to their owner and that my dog would turn up. A few hours after my report, the Humane Rescue Alliance called me back with the good news. They were prompt and accommodating— I was also afraid the person that found my dog would keep him, but the staff who worked with me assured me they would advocate on my behalf— five stars for the work they do and the services they provide to our loved furry family.

We adopted our wonderful pup from them in August 2022. Such an easy process, caring and nice staff! They also have very discounted vaccines for your furry kids.

I adopted my puppy from here at an event in Maryland and it is just the sweetest baby ever. The people were so nice and the lady Summer helped make everything easy. We saw a thing about the event and took home a puppy the same day.. so FAST! Everyone very nice

Let me start off by saying that if you are looking do adopt, you need to come here! The staff is super helpful and friendly! I stopped by this past weekend and they were extremely busy but were still checking up on us to make sure that we were comfortable. They made sure to give us personal attention to find the right dog and answered all of our questions. We spoke with Taryn specifically and she was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I can not say good enough things about this place. We will definitely recommend to all of our friends who are looking to adopt/rescue.

They are affordable, lovely staff, convenient, they handled my dog very well. A really good place to take your dog or cat to get their shots. I just wish they would open back up the veterinary side where they would check out your pet.
