The store was designed by Zaha hadid which is why it’s so stunning, but more importantly the makeup is amazing! I have super sensitive skin and hate the feeling of makeup caking my skin, so was so happy to find this brand. It feels like nothing and stays out all day! Use their foundation every day —the makeup artist that color matched me was really good....just by looking at me he nailed it the first try. Wore it to work the next day and a coworker mentioned how I didn’t need to wear makeup my skin was so good... Cept she didn’t know I was wearing foundation that very second. It’s that good. Their eyeshadow is also ridiculously smooth and buildable. As maximal as they say they are, they still have a good selection of neutrals which are more my speed. Got some of their makeup brushes as well that are really high quality. Mascara is not something I wear a lot because it tends to clump or smear on me, but their icon works really well and is now my go to.
I actually read all the reviews and decided to make an appointment for a free make over. 1. The product collections are disappointing. After I am done with the make over, I browsed the lipsticks and the there aren’t a lot of nice colors. Same with nail polish/eye shadow pallets etc. 2. The service from the staff is EXTREMELY inconsistent. When I told one staff that I was there for the appointment of makeover politely, the first thing he said was what kind of products I was looking to buy. Understandable, they are a make up store. I answered that I want to try the make up today and see how well it holds on the face or if it smears easily. Immediately he said that the event was meant for people to try the make up and make purchases, and that they are not just doing free makeovers for people. Ok I get it, but I don’t want to buy expensive products before knowing the quality is worth the price. I remained friendly and make conversation with him about make up tips etc. He proceeded to apply foundation/contour/bronzer on me, no complaints there. HOWEVER, I specially told him that I wanted to try the eyeliner and mascara because I have oily skin and want to get something that don’t smear easily. He ignored the eyeliner and asked me to do the mascara by myself, ok, no big deal. THEN, without asking my preference, started to apply lipstick on me. Immediately I politely pointed out that I don’t think the lipstick color suits me it’s a very bright teenage-ish pink, he looked at me in the eye, slightly condescendingly said :” Well if you want to ask me to do something you want, you have to make an appointment and make a MINIMUM 80 dollar purchase. This is a free makeover for people to try our product and you can’t tell me what to do” EXCUSE ME??? What kind of logic is that??? Why do I come all the way to get a makeover that I DONT LIKE? And if I want to try a color I want I have to MAKE 80 DOLLARS PURCHASE??? NO WHERE IN THE WEBPAGE says that the make up style/colors will be decided by the make up artist randomly, or that to get a satisfactory makeover a minimum 80 dollar purchase is needed. That is outrageous. Is it scam? Probably not, they didn’t force me to by anything. Was it false advertising? ABSOFREAKINGLUTELY. From what my friends described about her experience, her make up artist was very nice and encouraged her to try what my friend would like and was not rudely pressuring her to buy anything. She had a great experience. So yeah, if you decided to go get the free makeover, absolutely do not go for the male staff with a tooth tattoo on his right wrist. Go for someone else and bring your own make up wipes. To the company: careful with how your staff represent your brand, one rudely staff that couldn’t care less can do a lot damage to the entire store.
Don’t waste your time. Don’t waste your money. Rude salespeople. Unacceptable wait times for makeovers. Sephora isn’t much better but they are maybe 10% less snooty. This might be your thing if you enjoy waiting for them to begin your appointment an hour later and then they hastily paint you up with chalky makeup. This is a pop up so they can move once they get enough negative reviews. Do yourself a favor and watch a YouTube tutorial instead. Way less demeaning and frustrating.
First and foremost the look of this store is amazing! I’ve never seen anything like it. I walked in looked at some makeup and immediately James employee says he wants to try foundation on me , I never let anyone put makeup on me but I had to see what this was about. He matched me to the most perfect shade foundation I’ve ever used in my life. I was so blown away with the lightweight feeling of it. When he was done I couldn’t believe I looked so natural and flawless. He also used this creamy concealer under my eyes and omg the coverage was BOMB. He set my face with a mineral powder that was very nice and lastly my favorite he told me to close my eyes and sprayed my face with setting spray that smelled soooooo good! It felt so refreshing I just had to buy it. Overall I would totally come back and I hope this place is here to stay !
Amazing products and super-friendly staff. I went there today for a complimentary make-up session. Sivan, my make up artist was very talented, detailed, dedicated, patient and she did a wonderful job. The most unpleasant part was the wait. The schedule was overbooked with a dozen people for the same time slot. I had to wait 1 hour and 15 minutes. Not cool, Il Makiage. I really hope you will take this into consideration going forward.
The place is amazing! It even has a lounge, where you can wait with children. I had my granddaughter and she loved it there, music playing throughout the whole store. Employees are great, and the place is clean. While I waited for my daughter, I observed the ladies who work there cleaning their brushes and their stations. It's a wonderful experience, treat yourself to a make over, they do that also, but try to do an appointment. Although if they don't have anyone on their chair, they'll be more than glad to take you.
Courtney was amazing with my makeover! The products are high quality, light, and durable. Atmosphere is super chill, great vibe.
Had my makeup done by Danielle today! It was super fun and I learned how to apply makeup correctly.
I’m reviewing the website and trying return a product from there first of all the shades are a lot lighter then how it’s shown on the website that needs to be fixed and as far as returning the product it’s even harder I’ve send so many emails and I’ve also called but for some reason they are away close Monday -Friday 8am-5pm est. This company SUCKS and will never be ordering again!
I went for the complimentary makeover and the makeup artist that glamed me up was super sweet and super informative!
