God is Love that provokes forgiveness and disciplehood, sure that's a word from the Word—Spirit, but if you prefer discipleship, be generous about my wordplay. 1st year Jesse Lusko, almost measuring up to great worship team Mike Dean&co since he relevantly quoted Chomsky ;
This is my church and ALL are welcomed. Come and sit where the table is spread. We have children's church and great community events.
This church is full of God and his love! If you are looking for a new church and you're in the neighborhood this one should really be your first choice. The people who attend are God centered, loving and accepting. I've been to several churches before, this is the best one I've been to. Can't recommend it enough
I must preface this comment by saying that I do not go there anymore. I stopped going after I lost all the “faith” I had left from a brain injury in July 3, 2007. Either way, it is a great congregation to be a part of, no matter how screwed up your life has become. Thanks for the years of good times!
One of the best churches I've ever been too, the pastor really is with the Holy Spirit!
We decided to look into Imago Dei Community when we were searching for a church with an active youth group. The youth group has proven to be a place that my kids have experienced loving leaders that lead them in truth. I really enjoy the Sunday gathering. The music is fun and often brings me to a place of praise. Often times it is hard to sing along because the performers sing songs their own way. Some don't like that, but I enjoy listening to great live music, and I appreciate their expression of praise. The teaching is almost always excellent. The speakers season timeless truth with pragmatic works. We searched for a while for a home community to become a part of. The one we found is in our neighborhood, and has a great mix of people. It is at this home community that I experience real relational community. One of the things that I love most about this community is that I experience God's grace and His amazing love for us there through His people. The most challenging thing for me is that the church is progressive in its political views. I am politically libertarian and I am uncomfortable with some of the of the things that are said from the stage regarding politics. They seem to have bought in to the liberal narrative. I think that a more conservative person would not feel at home here. I wish the church would steer clear of politics and instead always keep the focus on Kingdom living.
Good theology and community, able to discern the difference between timeless Truth and contemporary relevance
Went to the candlelight service at 3pm on Christmas Eve. Sign language Interpreters are provided here & They are fantastic I'm also an interpreter this is why I can attest to this. The service was wonderful- I am not a member of this church but felt included & accepted. The sermon was wonderful & the pastor even wrote a story based on a painting that was very well written. I will definitely be attending again at some point in the future.
I love this church! Welcoming community, fun and unique worship with talented and creative musicians and most importantly bible based teachings from extremely well intended and thoughtful pastors. A home church of mine for a couple years and one I always look forward to visiting when I can make it into Portland.
I love this church. Is it perfect? Of course not, neither are any of us. But is it real, honest, seeking, loving, sharing and filled with a joyful love and heart felt reverence for God? Absolutely. The sermons teach me about the bible and God and His awesomeness with intelligence, knowledge, humor, honesty and compassion. They are also engaging, interesting and relevant; a good test for me about a sermon is if I can remember its key points when I leave church, or does it just fade away as irrelevant. Imago Dei's sermon stay with me and make me think. The church is also very active in community, helping others and lifting them up. Most all of this congregation is very young, twenty - thirtyish, lots of children, I'm one of the older ones at 67. I've been going to church most of my life, and seen quite a few, this one helps me rejoice and yield and trust and grow in the Lord and his loving ways. I'm sorry the woman who went two years ago was disappointed that the "bible wasn't open even once". I've never seen that happen, but I know a sermon about God's truth and love can be given with out an open bible, in fact a sermon about God's truth and love can be given without a word spoken. I hope she give it another chance.
