Dr. Helms provided me with the highest level of care. He explained everything and was very professional. Flawless execution and detailed instructions for rehabilitation. Thank you Doc for getting me back on my feet again. I recommend Dr. Helms to anyone with Podiatry needs. All around A+++. Superb!!! Six months since I posted my last review and all is still well. Dr. Helms did such a great job that I recently entrusted his skills with my teenager who required foot surgery. Again, Dr. Helms did a great job and my teenager is back on both feet now too. Thanks Dr. Helms.
Dr. Higgins is a wonderful doctor. She was courteous, answered my questions, and made sure I was comfortable during my procedure. For the stressful situation I was in, I am so grateful I had her to care for me. The whole team was very kind and comforting.
I had a great experience with Dr. Helms. After a running injury to my foot and Achilles that left me immobile and in miserable pain for weeks, I realized that rest alone was not going to heal me. I was so worried that if rest wasn't working, then something was really wrong, but Dr. Helms immediately lifted my spirits by telling me that he was hopeful we could fix the problem with physical therapy, and I could run again one day if I wanted to. He was very thorough in his examinations, listened intently to my concerns, was patient with all of my questions, and was really clear in explaining to me what exactly was wrong. With a combination of physical therapy, shoe recommendations, and heel lift inserts, I was back on my feet in no time! I'm so grateful I found Indy Podiatry and Dr. Helms!
I have seen Dr. Helms recently for my foot pain. What a caring doctor. Very knowledgeable and thorough. He is such an expert that he knew quickly and exactly how to care for my pain. I would recommend him highly to anyone. He was recommended to me by my husband! Great care for him too!
Dr. Helms has treated me for over 10 years. As a runner, I have had many problems including bunions and a hammer toe which Dr. Helms successfully removed and got me back on my feet quickly. He has always provided the highest quality of care, and I have recommended him to my friends and co-workers.
I came to see Dr. Helms because I am a runner and I had been fighting through having plantar fasciitis for almost 4 years. When I first developed it, Dr. Helms was recommended to me by fellow runners. A big part of the recommendation hinged on the fact the Dr. Helms himself is a runner and he could "feel my pain" as they say. I did not heed their advise and instead tried every other remedy that was out there. I even stopped by the Good Feet Store and listened to their presentation, however, I left not overly impressed. In March of 2018 I was at the end of my rope and had designs on running the Monumental Marathon as a 50th birthday present to myself. Having trained for marathon's before I knew there was no way that I could do so with the pain that I was experiencing. I finally did what I should have done at the beginning. I went to see Dr. Helms and I could not be any happier with my decision. My only regret is that I did not do so sooner. Dr. Helms was awesome and I did indeed feel a kinship with him because of the running connection. I was able to complete my goals and there is no way it could have happened without Dr. Helms treatment. I have been telling everyone I know this, and I thought it was time to post this testimonial. The staff was professional and kind as well and I will recommend Indy Podiatry to anyone I speak with.
Dr. Chhiba was AMAZING. I had been hesitant to address an issue with my foot for a while, but gave in after being uncomfortable on a recent hike while on vacation. Dr. Chhiba is smart, thorough, efficient, and very caring. During the procedure she made me feel very comfortable in her care and kept me informed on what was happening, and what I should expect. I will never again delay treatment with my feet!
For several years I postponed my much needed foot surgery because of all of the horror stories I have heard. Dr Helms and his staff put those stories to rest. I am glad that I decided to seek a second opinion and met Dr. Helms. I had a good experience and I am on my way to recovery. MJones
After Dr. Helm reviewed my ten year history of plantar fasciitis pain and completed a thorough examination he suggested I receive my third pair of orthotics, continue stretching, and then introduced me to energy shock wave therapy/orthotripsy, because he noted that cortisone shots were no longer working. I wish I would’ve been introduced to this therapy by the other podiatrists! My pain is almost gone!
Dr. Helms is immensely knowledgeable, he listens to his patients with empathy and understanding, and I appreciate his minimally invasive approach. He takes time to answer questions and address concerns. Prior to my treatment I had given up my active lifestyle of running, hiking, and dancing, but I am now back to doing it all. If you want the full story, continue reading... When I finally decided to go see a doctor for my foot pain, it was following a run that left my foot so swollen and painful that I couldn't even touch the skin. I spent the rest of the day with my feet elevated, and hobbled into the doctor a few days later. My initial examination by another doctor resulted in a diagnosis of arthritis, and so I resigned myself to dealing with the pain. Despite having previously had a very positive experience with Dr. Helms's treatment of a different type of foot pain, I thought arthritis was incurable, and something I'd have to endure. I did so by minimizing my activities more and more until I had given up most of what I enjoyed doing, and was left with few options for getting exercise. When I finally went to see him, Dr. Helms's fresh perspective provided a diagnosis that was much more hopeful. Through a series of thoughtful steps, that began with taping, and padding, it became apparent that my problem would respond to orthotics. Because I had pushed my injury to such an extreme, it took a while for the pain to completely subside, but from the first time Dr. Helms taped my foot, I started to feel relief. He varied the way he taped and supported my foot over the course of a few visits, and eventually ordered some custom orthotic inserts for my shoes. They were like magic. With my new orthotics I was again able to run and hike, though I did have one very localized area of persistent pain. It was slowly abating, but it was taking a very long time to do so. In the end, Dr. Helms suggested a cortisone injection, which left me pain free. Now several months out from that last treatment, I am able to run and hike without pain. I can even go barefoot for part of the day or wear shoes that are not customized, as long as I spend most of my time on my feet in my custom orthotics. I can't express enough gratitude, nor recommend Dr. Helms highly enough.
