I can't say enough good things about this place. It's an amazing resource for anyone who is interested in organizing, social movements, or archives in general. Their collection is from all over the world and spans everything from buttons and zines to large format posters and vinyl records. Archives aside, it's one of the most warm, welcoming, and inclusive spaces I have ever been to in New York City. Highly recommend checking it out, and if you're lucky you'll get to see one of their exhibits as well. Be sure to check back on their website for any programming that they have too!
This is a volunteer-run library of activist ephemera. They have exhibitions but really the best experience is having a topic you want to look into and learn more. This is what I did, it was great. A wonderful source, great culture, good people.
Awesome collection of materials and ephemera from social movements around the world! Just generally a cool third space too.
A luta continua! This volunteer run place is doing its best to preserve the legacy of radical movements in the city and internationally. The gallery space is really intimate and you feel like you can really take in the exhibit they're presenting. I think they're trying to do more with families from Sunset Park, so if that's your neighborhood definitely give them a visit with your family and see what's going on!
Really fascinating and large collection. We has just a short stay in Brooklyn, but I managed to visit this archive twice just to look at all the old activist posters.
It's nice to see so many positive reviews of this unique place. It's both a free library that's open to the public and a spot for interesting events. I like that they let people get their hands directly on the resources - like posters, books, zines and videos. It's all volunteer run! That's dedication. One of the best coolest things I've seen here is all kinds of school groups come by and hear them sift through relicts of past and current social struggles.
Interference Archive is a good place to learn about various social movements. The archive has a large selection of books, CDs and videos in stock. It is completely volunteer based and the volunteers are friendly, easygoing and always willing to answer any questions. Would recommend.
The staff are warm, the space is calm and grounding, the educational resources is highly appreciated that folks need to support and tap in!
An interesting archive that I did not get the opportunity to fully explore... That will have to wait for some follow-up visits
My favorite radical archive in the world. Great exhibitions and events.
