Been a member of the gym for going on 20 years. Never had a gym that delivered greater overall value. Tons of space with not a huge crowd. Staff is great. Extremely professional and friendly. Special shout out to Mary Ann Nicklow. Any request, issue or concern I've ever had she's handled immediately. Myself and 3 other family members have been members for over 20 years now. Wouldn't go anywhere else.
Lots of great weight machines, a wide assortment of daily fitness classes, friendly staff and a welcoming environment with members of all ages and fitness levels. I joined after 2 years of complete inactivity due to COVID and the personal attention and fitness re-education I received from staff has made such a difference that I’m now back to working out 4 times per week.
Marie-Ann & her colleagues do an amazing job at providing a friendly and encouraging environment. From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave, you are greeted with smiles, fresh towels, and the opportunity to improve your body, mind, and overall spirit. Our family has been members on and off for over 13 years...and this year my wife and I are at this location more than 7 times a weekcombined. Had i committed to Sun and Ingrid's yoga classes years ago...i would be in a physically better place...but better to start now than never. Cannot say enough positive things about the facilities, classes, and most importantly Marie-Ann who truly can be seen doing all and any roles all day long to ensure our local community has this awesome option in the middle of our "busy" lives.
In the era of Covid, the Bethesda Sport and Health Club is the ideal club. As a transfer member from Crunch Metro, I was impressed with how much room there is to enjoy your own private workout. Covid compliant but relaxed with the full range of options from big beautiful wooden floors to have a great stretch, weight rooms with rubber floors, cross cable machines, a truck tire, abs in a few different ways, the best combination of new fitness options like crossfit style rubberbands, ropes and weighted balls to old school free weights and "machines" and a great attitude by everyone there. The management is friendly and professional and this is as well organized and run a club as has been my experience with years as a semi-pro athelete. They have a pool, squash/racquet ball schedule reserve on-line courts fully glassed in and even a tennis court. Towels, flat screens, treadmills, stationary cycles etc...available always for your use. Rates for membership are fair and the best value for a big club in the DMV. They have Private Trainers that are real atheletes but great for beginners also. They come from varied sports backgrounds so their experience is diverse across disiplines to suit your fitness objectives. Rehab and returning to a gym after years away can be made easier with a trainer. Young atheletes preparing for the leap from high school to college can prepare here. Lots to get ready for. This club seems big and complete in many ways. Have a great visit...join. Currently highly recommended.
I love Onelife because I’m an athlete! It’s the only place in the Bethesda area that meets all my needs. It has a swimming pool, basketball court, indoor & outdoor tennis courts, squash courts, racquetball courts, sauna, steam room, weights, machines, stretch cages and tables. I’m in fitness heaven when I’m there. Maybe it’s me, but the staff and other members are nice to me as well. I highly recommend this facility! And I can’t believe Pickleball is coming soon to this location!!!! I’m a Pickleball addict, lol!
YOU NEED A WARM CHANGING AREA FOR WOMEN!!! WE HAD IT FROM THE START AND THEN IT WAS TAKEN AWAY FROM US AND WE WERE PUT IN THE FREEZING COLD BASEMENT. MEN CAN TOLERATE THIS MUCH BETTER THAN WOMEN. I KNOW THERE IS A NEWER CLUB IN VIRGINIA WHERE THE WOMEN'S CHANGING ROOM IS WARM AND COMFORTABLE-NOT IN THE BASEMENT. I WOULD HATE4 TO LEAVE MY CURRENT CLUB-I THINK I HAVE BEEN A MEMBER SINCE IT OPENED. AT 77 THE COLD IS BECOMING HARDER AND HARDER FOR ME TO TAKE CAROLINE SIMON
I think you guys should get a couple of vert max it would attract more clients and you should renew the hard wood in the basketball court . The work out section is great but I think the athletic field needs more attention .
This branch has an eclectic clientele, that ranges from many older people that socialize more than workout, younger folks who take swim/tennis classes or workout in groups after school to some regulars that are always there. The Les Mills group classes are nice. The pool is often crowded. The weight/machine area is so-so. The cardio area is good and rarely crowded.
They offered a $80 a month contract. Great! My son would like to have it for just over the summer while school is out. Unfortunately, after signing up, I skipped reading the small print which they half-heartedly attached at the bottom of the confirmation email in pdf form. Now, instead of paying $80 like I expected, I am stuck paying $400 since I was automatically signed up for a twelve month membership. I was dumb, I understand, but this felt a bit underhanded. At no point during the process of paying was I notified about signing up for a entire year's membership.
Bethesda Sport&Health is a great "bang for your buy" when it comes to equipment and class offerings for the price in this area. I'm feeling disappointed as I'm realizing it comes at a cost to customer service. I have had a membership freeze for the past few months due to a lingering injury. I forgot to continue the freeze when it expired this month and was charged. The account manager was unable/ unwilling to offer a refund, as it is a week past the billing date. To me, this is surprising, and very disappointing as they are a large corporation. To be honest, this incident put me over the edge from a string of unfortunate occurrences that left me feeling unvalued as a member. On another occasion, another member inappropriately approached and touched my back end in the weight area. I reported him, which opened an investigation. I am unclear of where this investigation went. I saw him in the gym the next week.
