INTUS Windows

I’m a designer and builder of high performance homes and for my own home I chose INTUS’s tri-pane tilt-and-turn window. It did not go well from the beginning. Shipping dates were changed and then the windows arrived without notice. 14 screens were the wrong size; INTUS’s solution was to send someone from DC to Vermont to re-build the screens, until they realized how impractical that would be; they finally shipped me correctly sized screens. Two windows were impossible to adjust correctly and online and printed instructions were contradictory or did not apply to my hinges. Multiple telephone appointments to connect with a tech to walk me through the process were broken. And 22 of the 31 windows arrived with debris between the panes of glass, left behind from the manufacturing process. The windows should never have left the factory in LIthuania. Waiting an additional 14 weeks while the house was under construction was not remotely possible. I installed them with the hope that INTUS would honor their 10 year warranty against defects. They did not. I went through 6 Claims Managers, the next most recent past manager having been fired for “gross mismanagement,” and when terminated erased her computer hard drive and all my correspondence to and from INTUS. After sending numerous photos and detailed narratives INTUS finally admitted that the windows were defective. Their solution was to send me replacement glazing and that it would be up to me to disassemble the windows, replace the glazing, and then re-assemble and install. They would not provide the interior and exterior muntins; I would have to peel the ones away from my existing sash and apply them to the new glazing. The smart thing to do would have been to send me complete new sash that I could swap out; other conscientious window companies do that. But INTUS is neither conscientious nor smart. Finally after dealing with INTUS for 5 years, I filed a claim with the Vermont Attorney General’s office. INTUS took notice, but rather than refund me for a portion of the cost of the windows—which I had requested—they offered me $1,000. Apparently my request for $2,500 would have to go the “board,” with no indication as to when or how my request would be resolved. I accepted the offer, but they couldn’t even write the check correctly. My last name is not “Residence.” The woman who authorized the $1,000 check was subsequently terminated. I personally know 3 former INTUS window retailers. They all terminated their relationship with INTUS due to unethical business practices and no customer service. One retailer—who had sold hundreds of INTUS windows—was paying out of his own pocket to cover warranty problems; INTUS stopped returning his phone calls and emails. INTUS brags about the 14 difference nationalities that work there. I want a window, not a lesson in geopolitics and hopefully someone who speaks and understands English.

Using Intus windows on a construction project, wish we would have gone elsewhere. They may be decent windows if we ever get them, their ordering process is very unprofessional and has caused a month delay.

I want to thank Intus team for helping our firm getting project of the ground and completing it on time. Our goal was to design a Passive House Project super energy efficient building. One of the challenges we have encountered sourcing materials was windows. We needed super energy efficient windows which are quality build. Reasonable lead times and staying within budget was also a concern. During my google search I have found Intus Windows and was impressed right away. This company has a professional website, design manuals, installation instructions, advanced BIM models. Super fast and professional communication, plenty of reference projects and Passive House construction knowledge was an icing on the cake that got me and my company sold. We have received products in 12 weeks as promised. Products were as impressive with professional packing, quality finishes, multi-lock hardware and attention to the details. One of our concerns were installation. Our installers never installed products like that previously. Intus Windows field technician provided hands on training for our installation crew and addressed all questions. Superb company to do business with . Looking forward to do business on future projects.

Excellent energy efficient and high-quality window and door manufacturer. The windows and doors are extremely well-made and the triple pane glazing makes for highly energy efficient windows and doors. The doors and windows close and lock air-tight like a bank vault door. Top notch.
