Iowa Veterans Home

My Dad was forced here against his will even though he can live with me. This place is trying to break him so he won’t fight to get out. It is a disgusting grab at his money. Fight this place. With everything in you. Do not allow yourself to be forced here! And don’t allow someone you love to be forced here! It is grossly understaffed. The administration and “social workers” don’t care what happens to the residents. The residents are miserable. It is sick that veterans are treated this way.

I've heard more bad than good about this place. I've had many friends and co-workers who have been employed there; they've said they didn't like working there and their supervising staff were ineffective and inefficient. The residents are kind, though.

This is supposed to be a quality retirement care facility for veterans, but it seems like it's more about getting money from the residents that live there rather than providing quality care.
