Pretty good gym, with great classes, though some coaches can be dismissive and uninterested in your development, but the ones that do care are great. The upside is that the community has plenty of experienced members that are extremely good supporting you on your fitness journey.
Great, inclusive and accepting community. Challenging classes but adjustments can be made for any fitness level. And everyone there - both the trainers and the other gym rats - is super nice and welcoming S/o to my favorite instructor Melika for introducing me!!!!
When I first joined IPA I admit I was intimidated. Not only was I an overwhelmed mom to a 3 year old, I was recovering from a severe shoulder injury and had never been to a strength class ever in my life - I had preferred swimming and dance type classes before. My first few classes were challenging to say the least but the support and kindness from the instructors and fellow members made me want to stick with it. I’m still here 2 1/2 years later and find myself significantly stronger and in better shape than I’ve ever been before in my life at 38. The classes are programmed with expertise and always allow for personalization regardless of what level you are at. I enjoy testing my strength now and thinking back to what I was barely able to do when I first started. I especially enjoy the camaraderie that I have with fellow members, we always encourage and challenge each other.
I've been attending this gym for just over a year. I've tried many other group fitness classes in the area, and while they were good, my progress always plateaued. At this facility, there is an option to push harder and a chance to get stronger, safely, under the eyes of coach, who also demos the moves. Their is a vast range and size of weights, dumbbells, kettlebells, plates, and varied cardio machines like assault bikes, ski erg, rower and treadmills. There are enough class slots 7 days a week to fit with my work schedule. Things I thought I would never do, such as pull ups or run a faster mile, I attribute to this gym. Losing weight, feeling and looking better in clothing is nice too.
This is an amazing fitness studio that will encourage novices and challenge experienced participants to achieve more from their workout routines. I strongly believe that I would not be able to achieve the goals I have set for myself without Ironbound Performance Athletics IPA for short, the owner Josh, the instructors and my fellow classmates! I started at IPA after period of inactivity due to a knee injury and Josh with his well trained staff helped me ease into classes with modifications that allowed me to gain the strength and confidence that has propelled me to maintain a regular discipline for over 2 years. The workouts change daily so it's never boring, the instructors all bring their diverse insights and the sense of community keeps you encouraged, supported and accountable. IPA is available on the ClassPass app which works for me since I typically travel for work often but I am sure it's more cost effective to be a member. Also, the member portal they have makes it easy to book classes and allows for more flexibility if your schedule changes.
All gyms are similar right? Yes and no. What you are getting with IPA is a community like no other gym you've been to. It is understood that items such as weights and equipment are an important part of a workout, however the reason why IPA stands out from the rest is because of the simple fact that there is a tremendous community of amazing, supportive people who make it a priority in their lives to visit with regularity and make it a part of their routine. This is why this gym is so special. When you look beyond all the things commonly advertised in the industry facilities, equipment etc understand the primary reason why you will improve and get stronger is an environment that keeps you coming back time and time again. This is where IPA stands above the pack, as it is a special place unlike any other because of its one of a kind community. I can say with certainty that the experience of being a member has been transformative in my life and is something I could not imagine living without now.
I took a class at this place through ClassPaas, I could say this is the most unorganized fitness place I have ever been to. The trainer initially explains you the workout workouts are pretty good and then he's just on the phone or the laptop doing his own stuff. Does he check if the clients are doing the right form?: NO Does he help if the clients are stuck in an exercise and are not able to do the workout?: Absolutely NO It's surprising that it has good reviews, they really need to learn how to conduct a fitness class, other than the trainers being on phone all the time.
