Iwataya Japanese Restaurant

I had never been there before, but the service I received is why I am never going back. We made a reservation for a party of 10 on a Saturday. Yes that’s a lot of people but the staff should be trained to handle it. We sat there for 2 hours before even getting our appetizers, then when we asked about our food the waitress was rude and said they were busy and couldn’t get our food out yet, then the waitress said that we came in early for our reservation and it’s our fault that we waited 2 hours for food. So naturally I asked to speak to the manager. The manager also said it was our fault for the food being late and I will give her that she took 15% off our orders. But she didn’t do anything when the waitress got in one of our friends faces and was very rude. Then one of the people in our group just wanted to leave and she canceled her order. She had not received the food, or ate it but the manager made her pay for it. Over all worst experience at a restaurant I’ve ever had.

We've been to Iwataya many times and and always is a hit with family and business colleagues. We've also been with Japanese friends and they are equally happy! Great choices. Fresh. Tasty. Consistent.

Iwataya is in a class of their own for Japanese food in this area. The have an expansive menu and the service during our latest visit was impeccable. The entire staff was friendly and everyone was attentive. The interior has great ambiance, and you could easily bring a small or large party. I would thoroughly recommend any of their sushi dinners. The sea scallops are delicious but a smaller portion. The tempura dinners are also a consistently great choice.

I have been going to Iwataua for years, I'm surprised I'm just now getting around to reviewing. Iwataya is a fantastic place to eat Japanese foods and sushi, everything I've ever had has been stellar. We've had a bit of a wait a couple of times but usually only on holidays. If you want to try some authentic Japanese go and try them, a bit pricey, but totally worth it.

I've been to many sushi restaurants here and including several overseas. Based on my experiences, Iwataya is one of my favorites. 5 stars would be given if they didn't pump in music that isn't conducive to good dining.
